The Ultimate Valorant Overview
Valorant is an up-and-coming tactical multiplayer first-person-shooter with a release date that’s slated for the summer of 2020.
Developed by Riot Games and currently, in beta mode, Valorant is a hotly anticipated title that we’re excited for!
In this article, we discuss the progression of this title and the things we currently know about its release timeline. This is based on what we know so far, so bear in mind the specifics of the release timeline may change. If and when Boosting Ground finds out more information, we will update you and let you know!
Valorant features a unique leveling system, powerful options for ranking, skins, cosmetics, and much more! It also will have a unique story and interesting lore that unfolds slowly as the game goes forward.
Let’s take a closer look at what Riot Games has in store for us!
Valorant’s Progression So Far
In this piece, we divide our analysis of Valorant into different categories and cover each of them separately. We also go into the specs your computer needs in order to run the game.
What You Need to Get Started
Valorant will be available for PC only, but maybe in the near future, it will be playable on PS4 and Xbox. It uses the Unreal Engine, and like any other game powered by this engine, it requires a minimum spec of Windows 7 64-bit with 4GB RAM and a CPU with Intel i3-370M and an Intel HD 3000 GPU.
This is the bare minimum requirement however, and this will only guarantee 30 FPS. We highly recommend having a system with an Intel i3-4150 CPU and GeForce GT 730 GPU – this will guarantee 60 FPS. This is a respectable framerate for gameplay. If you want to take it up a notch, use an Intel i5 4460 (3.2GHz) CPU and at least a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti – this configuration guarantees you at least 144 FPS!
Valorant is free for everyone to play, so Riot Games has to find a way to make money in a different way. From what we’ve seen so far, the pricing is pretty fair!
First, we’ll look at what we know about the story!
Valorant: The Story So Far
The focus of Valorant is on the gameplay, but Riot Games has revealed there will be a story that underpins the game.
The game is set on Earth in the near future, with a diverse array of Agent characters. We know about 8 of the Agents and their abilities so far, and that they come from Britain and America.
The lore will be slowly revealed via in-game character interactions and events. From what we’ve seen and hear, the story and background are going to be incredibly exciting!
Phoenix, for example, is a brash Londoner that talks tough and fights even tougher! Through gameplay and dialogue, his background and lore will be revealed more and more. This goes for all the other game characters as well.
Let's take a look at the free stuff that Valorant has to offer!
Valorant’s Agent Leveling System
So far, we know for sure that Valorant won’t have a Battle Pass progression system – this would be a cost and would have a seasonal expiration date (this is similar to games in the Call of Duty series).
You will have to unlock the levels in a similar way. Each Agent has ten different ranks/levels that can be unlocked by playing as the agent, scoring kills, winning the games, etc.
Each level rewards you in the form of skins and items. If you play as one agent, levels may transfer to the other agents!
Valorant will offer a level boost option if you don’t have time to conquer each of the levels solo. Our team will help you out by getting you quality statistics!
All the agents get a specialized mission set you can beat to acquire the game currency to spend on additional items.
These missions are incredibly challenging and require you to reach certain accomplishments, such as getting certain types of kills (headshots, clutch, etc.), use your abilities in a variety of ways, etc. The developers will no doubt get highly creative with this!
In addition to the free missions, we found out you’ll have the ability to unlock a set of specialty missions using Riot Points that can include more badges, cosmetic items, etc. Our pros will also handle Valorant Boosting!
There won’t be any agent skins for this version of Valorant. Riot Games needed to make sure the game was as fair as possible, and skins might disrupt the game’s familiarity during the first couple of months of release. It could also make the game look messier.
This was the case with the popular title Apex Legends, which introduced skin re-colors when the game launched. They then put in more diverse types of skin once the players gained familiarity with the game characters.
It will feature cosmetic additions and weaponry skins in a similar fashion to Apex Legends. Riot has stated that the weapons will get ridiculous looking, something that those who’ve played through League of Legends definitely will recognize!
The Valorant Store
You’ll be able to purchase cosmetics and items with the game’s currency and/or your Riot Points – League of Legends has a similar system. There won’t be any Loot boxes, however, which is a good thing!
Valorant’s Excellent Ranking System
Valorant will be featuring an in-depth ranking system. It will be a remarkably similar progression, just like some priorly-mentioned benefit, to League of Legends.
There will be 8 total ranks – each of them will have 3 levels except Valorant (the very highest level). In total, this will mean 22 different levels for your gameplay experience. Each ranking with feature an icon to show you and other players your current rank position!
