The Catalyst challenge itself asks for kills on enemies impaired by your tactical equipment: Stuns, Flashbangs, or Shock Charges. For most weapons, you need five of these kills per gun (three for pistols and melee). That sounds manageable in isolation, but it means every single engagement needs to start with a tactical throw before you finish the enemy off. In Warzone's unpredictable firefights, landing a Flashbang and then securing the kill with the correct weapon (not a teammate's shot, not a different gun) is harder than it looks.

Launchers have a separate requirement, needing a set number of destructions in a single match. The real difficulty is scale. You're repeating this process across every weapon in the game, and each one needs its own completed run through the entire camo chain before the Catalyst challenge even appears. Players who've finished the grind manually report it taking several weeks of focused play, which is why most people looking for the Catalyst camo turn to a boost rather than attempting it solo.
