Destiny 2 Iron Banner Guide

Intro

Listen up, Guardians! If you're a fan of PvP action, you're in for a treat with Destiny 2's Iron Banner. This week-long event has been given a total facelift in Season of the Haunted, with some sweet rewards to earn. And, even if you're a die-hard PvE player, there are still some goodies to be had, like the Hero's Burden SMG. So, what exactly is Iron Banner, you ask?

Well, Iron Banner is a competitive PvP event where players battle it out in a game mode that changes each season. This time around, it's Rift, so get ready to grab that Spark and slam it home! But wait, there's more! Iron Banner Ranks are also a thing, and they work similarly to other reputation systems in the game. As you win matches, complete bounties, and play in the playlist, you'll earn Iron Banner reputation that increases your rank.

Now, you're probably wondering, what's in it for you? Well, let me tell you, Guardians, there are some seriously dope rewards to be had in Iron Banner. If you're a PvP main, you're gonna want to get your hands on the Riiswalker Shotgun, one of the best PvP weapons in the game. But even if you're more of a PvE player, the Hero's Burden SMG is definitely worth your time.

So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and show your opponents what you're made of in Iron Banner! Oh, and don't forget to check out the curated game mode for this season. It's a blast!

What is Iron Banner?

Welcome to the Iron Banner, Guardian! This PvP playlist is a favorite among hardcore PvP players and even some PvE mains. Why, you ask? Because Iron Banner offers some of the best PvP weapons in the game, such as the coveted Riiswalker Shotgun and the must-have Hero's Burden SMG.

But Iron Banner isn't just about getting those sweet, sweet loot drops. It's also a chance to prove your worth in the Crucible and earn some bragging rights. Each season, Iron Banner appears twice, and during that time, you can farm the playlist to earn Iron Banner reputation with Lord Saladin, the event's vendor. Completing games will grant you exclusive weapons, armor pieces, and even a title if you complete enough Iron Banner Triumphs.

Gameplay-wise, Iron Banner is a Crucible match with a different commentator and second reward track. You'll increase your rank with Saladin and Shaxx as you participate in the playlist, and you'll be able to earn Iron Banner and Crucible loot each game. But wait, there's more! Iron Banner also offers unique gametypes to spice up the Crucible experience:

  • Control: Capture all three zones to initiate "The Hunt," locking all capture points for a short time.
  • Fortress: A variant of Control where a central point spawns partway through the match, guarded by Cabal turrets.
  • Eruption: A variant of Clash where players gain ability and Super energy on kills. Failing to kill a Guardian in 30 seconds results in death.
  • Rift: No changes or additions.

So, when does Iron Banner start? The first event occurs during the second week of each season, and you'll have the entire week to farm the playlist. And don't worry, Iron Banner won't override any core PvP playlists. However, Trials of Osiris will not occur while Iron Banner is active.

Now that you know the ins and outs of Iron Banner, it's time to grab your gear and head into the Crucible. Show Saladin what you're made of and get ready to earn some sweet loot drops. Good luck, Guardian!

Forging Iron Quest

Well, well, well, look who's back in town, it's Lord Saladin, the Iron Lord himself! And boy, does he have some sweet loot to offer for those who are willing to put in some work. If you're up for the challenge, you can start by speaking to Lord Saladin and taking on the "Forging Iron" quest, which will guide you through the basics of the event.

The quest is pretty straightforward and consists of six steps that will have you playing Iron Banner matches, completing daily challenges, and earning Iron Banner rank points. Make sure to equip some Iron Banner gear to speed up the process and impress your opponents with your shiny new armor pieces and weapons.

If you're a lone wolf, you can still complete the quest, but we highly recommend finding a team to make the whole experience more enjoyable. Plus, you'll have someone to cry with when you get stomped by a six-stack with god-rolled weapons.

Once you complete the quest, you'll be rewarded with an Iron Banner engram and access to Lord Saladin's stock of weapons, armor, and ornaments. So, what are you waiting for? Grab your controller and get ready to show the other Guardians who's the real Iron Lord around here!

Daily Challenges

Daily Challenges are the ultimate test of a Guardian's mettle in the Iron Banner playlist. These are Pinnacle Gear objectives that you can find by hovering over the Iron Banner playlist in the Crucible menu. The first daily challenge is simple: complete three Iron Banner matches with either a Strand, Solar, or Void subclass equipped.

Now, you might be thinking, "I can do that in my sleep!" But hold your Sparrows, Guardian. You can only complete one challenge per character per day. However, if you have alternate characters, you can complete up to three daily challenges in total. So, if you're a true Iron Banner fanatic, you might want to create more characters.

But wait, there's more! Because of the daily challenges, Lord Saladin has decided to retire his bounties from past seasons. That's right, he's hanging up his bounty hat and focusing on the daily challenges. So, if you were hoping to grab some bounties from Saladin, you'll have to settle for the daily challenges. Don't worry, though, completing the daily challenges will reward you with some sweet Pinnacle Gear.

Ranks

Ah, the sweet satisfaction of earning recognition and rewards for your hard-earned victories in Iron Banner. This playlist uses the same reputation system as other ritual activities, such as Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit. So, the more Iron Banner matches you play, the more reputation you earn with Lord Saladin, the event's vendor. And what does that mean for you? It means access to some sweet, sweet rewards, my friend.

As you accumulate more Iron Banner reputation, you can redeem various rewards from Lord Saladin. But, if you reach the legendary rank, you'll be able to reset your Iron Banner Rank and earn even more rewards, including coveted Masterwork materials. So, get ready to show off your PvP prowess and rack up that reputation, Guardian. The rewards are waiting for you.

Increase Your Reputation

Ah, Iron Banner. The good old reputation system we know and love. Completing Iron Banner matches will grant you a bit of rep, but let's face it, that won't get you far. So, if you want to rank up quickly, you'll need to build an Activity Streak and utilize this playlist's boost system.

As you play more Iron Banner matches, you'll start to earn an Activity Streak. The streak increases the amount of reputation you'll earn with every game, win or lose. Completing five matches in a row will give you the strongest streak, granting you up to +20 reputation points per match. Not bad, right?

But wait, there's more! Equipping Iron Banner gear and completing daily challenges will multiply your reputation gains. Iron Banner gear can boost your reputation gains by up to 40% per piece, while daily challenges grant a massive 50% boost per challenge (up to 4 challenges per day). Don't forget to equip an Iron Banner emblem as well, which will give you a 50% boost.

Assuming you fully gear your Guardians around Iron Banner and use an emblem, you'll be swimming in reputation points. But don't get too excited, Guardian. Building up your reputation takes time, so you'll need to put in some serious effort to reach Legend rank. But trust us, the rewards are worth it. Who doesn't love Masterwork materials?

So, put on your Iron Banner gear, grab your favorite weapons, and start racking up those wins (or losses, we don't judge). Just remember, to rank up fast, you'll need to build an Activity Streak and take advantage of all the boosts Iron Banner has to offer. Happy hunting!

Rewards

Ah, Iron Banner, the pinnacle of competition in the Crucible. If you're looking for exclusive weapons and armor, then you're in luck because Iron Banner has got you covered. You can now obtain most of the weapons introduced in previous seasons, so you won't miss out on any of the action.

So, how can you get your hands on these coveted Iron Banner weapons? Well, the good news is that they can drop as end-of-match rewards. If you're feeling lucky, you can cross your fingers and hope for the best. Or, if you're a more strategic player, you can take advantage of Saladin's various Engram focusing options.

Saladin, the towering figurehead of Iron Banner, has his own reward track that you can progress through. You'll earn Iron Banner Tokens as you play matches, which you can then turn in to Saladin for a chance at his exclusive loot pool. The higher your rank, the better the rewards.

But wait, there's more! Saladin also offers Engram focusing options that allow you to target specific weapons or armor pieces. You can focus your Engrams on a particular weapon or armor slot, increasing your chances of getting what you're after.

So, there you have it, Guardian. The Iron Banner has a lot to offer in terms of loot, and with Saladin's reward track and Engram focusing options, you'll have plenty of chances to get your hands on those exclusive weapons and armor sets. Get out there and show the competition what you're made of!

Ahoy there, Guardian! Looking for some stylish new armor to show off in the Crucible? Look no further than the Iron Banner! The current armor set, the Iron Companion, is a sleek and modern update to the classic Iron Banner armor from the days of Destiny 1. It's sure to make you look like a true warrior of the Iron Lords.

But if you're feeling a bit nostalgic, or just want to mix things up, Lord Saladin has you covered. He's got a whole suite of "legacy" armor sets available through his Legacy Decoding feature. From the Year 1 Iron Truage set to the Season of the Lost Iron Forerunner set, you're sure to find something that suits your style.

Now, I know what you're thinking: what about those other sets? Well, unfortunately, the Iron Symmachy set from the Season of the Drifter is no longer obtainable, and the Iron Banner ornaments from the Curse of Osiris and Warmind DLCs are also off-limits. But don't fret! With all the awesome armor options available in the Iron Banner, you're sure to find something that makes you feel like a true Iron Lord.

Control Explanation

Attention all Guardians! Are you tired of the same old Crucible routine? Look no further than Iron Banner's take on the classic Control game type.

In this 6v6 battle, your mission is to dominate three zones and rack up those sweet, sweet points. But hold your Sparrows, there's a twist. Iron Banner's version of Control adds "The Hunt" mechanic, which locks all three zones when captured by the same team. This means you'll have to work extra hard to maintain your control and secure the win.

But fear not, brave Guardians! We've got some tips to help you come out on top. First up, aim for Zone Advantage by holding two points at once. This will give you more points per interval than your opponent, and put you one step closer to victory.

Don't forget to keep an eye on those spawns, too. Capturing a third zone will flip the spawns, and you don't want to be caught off guard by an enemy sneaking up behind you.

And last but not least, use those Supers to your advantage! A well-timed Ward of Dawn can make capturing zones a breeze, while a devastating Blade Barrage can put a stop to pesky defensive Supers.

So what are you waiting for, Guardians? Get out there, capture those zones, and claim your Iron Banner victory! And remember, The Hunt is on.

Fortress Explanation

Ah, Fortress - the game mode that makes Control look like child's play. In this 6v6 variant of Control, you'll need to capture and hold three zones on the map. But wait, there's more! About halfway through the match, all points will lock down and a central Cabal point will spawn. You and your teammates will need to destroy the Cabal turrets guarding the fortress point and then capture it for some serious points.

So, how do you come out on top in Fortress? First, focus on capturing and holding at least two zones to earn more points than the enemy team. Once you have that advantage, play defensively to prevent the other team from snatching your zones away.

After the Fortress point disappears, all zones on the map will reset ownership. This is the perfect time to make a beeline for a capture point and secure it for your team.

When the Cabal turrets spawn during The Hunt, let the enemy team take the brunt of the damage while you pick them off from a safe distance using a Pulse or Scout Rifle. And don't forget about your supers! Ward of Dawn can help you capture zones easily, and one-and-done supers like Blade Barrage can help you counter defensive supers.

Good luck out there, Guardian!

Eruption Explanation

Welcome to the high-octane world of Eruption! This 6v6 Clash variant is all about building and maintaining your killstreak to dominate the battlefield. Defeat two Guardians to become Surging, granting you a boost in ability energy with every kill. Take out five enemies in one life, and you become Primed, a high-value target that everyone wants to take down. But beware, if you fail to kill an enemy in 15 seconds, you'll explode!

To win Eruption, you need to reach 150 points before the other team does. So keep moving, Guardian! Camping is not an option here. Actively seek out enemies and use your Solar subclass to heal and stay alive. And don't forget to use your abilities. They recharge absurdly fast in Eruption, making it easy to go on a killstreak. Trigger debuffs like Ignites, Jolt, Suppress, or Weaken to make taking down enemies a breeze.

If you're lucky enough to become Primed, congratulations! But also, watch out! You'll be marked on the map, and everyone will be gunning for you. So defend your Primed teammates, become Primed yourself, and try not to explode. Easy, right?

So get out there, Guardian, and show everyone what you're made of! But remember, if things get too hot to handle, just take a deep breath and keep on fighting!

Rift Explanation

Ah, Rift - the classic one-bomb Assault or one-flag CTF game mode that puts your teamwork and mobility to the test. If you've never played Rift before, don't worry, I've got you covered. Here's how it works:

Objective: Capture a Spark at the center of the map and slam it at the enemy team's base. The first team to score five times wins. Easy, right?

Modifiers: You respawn after ten seconds, and revives are enabled. Matches last ten minutes. Not too bad, eh?

When the game begins, both teams will spawn on opposite ends of the map. After 15 seconds, the Spark will spawn at the center of the map, usually where Heavy spawns in other modes. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to grab the Spark by holding the interact key while standing near it. But beware, once you grab it, you'll be marked on everyone's HUD, even the enemy's! So you'll have to defend yourself and try to dunk the Spark in the enemy's base.

If your team grabs the Spark first, you'll need to defend your carrier as they make their way to the enemy base. But if the enemy team grabs it first, then it's up to you to take them out and grab the Spark for your own team. Once you've got the Spark, it's time to make a run for it! Escort your carrier to the enemy base and slam the Spark to score a point. Do this five times, and your team wins! If time runs out and both teams have scored the same amount, then three Sparks will spawn on the map, and the first team to score wins. And if no one scores, well, that's a draw.

Rift Tips: Stick together – Teamwork is essential in Rift. Sticking together allows you to revive each other if someone goes down, making it much harder for the enemy team to stop your runner. So, stay close and watch each other's backs!

Play Support – Certain abilities like Stasis, Boots of the Assembler Warlocks, and Omnioculus Hunters are incredibly powerful in this mode and can completely change the flow of combat. If you're playing Freelance and want to increase your odds of winning, focus on supporting your team and keeping them alive.

Focus on Movement – Movement is key in Rift. Use Blink on Voidwalker, Icarus Dash on Dawnblade, shoulder charges on Titan, or use Strafe Jump on Hunter to quickly move while carrying the Spark. The more mobile you are, the harder it will be for the enemy team to take you down.

Kills Matter – Killing the enemy team is important in Rift, not just because it's satisfying, but because a downed enemy can't respawn for ten seconds. So, coordinate with your team and try to wipe out the enemy team to give your Spark carrier enough time to safely deposit at the enemy's base.

So, there you have it - everything you need to know about Rift. Get out there, grab that Spark, and slam dunk it in the enemy's face!
