Renegades leans hard into the space outlaw fantasy. Drifter's back with shady jobs, the Lawless Frontier activity anchors the new content, and Bungie's Star Wars inspiration is impossible to miss. Beyond the story and new exotics, the expansion drops eleven new armor sets into the loot pool, including seven legendary sets with actual gameplay-changing bonuses.
How Set Bonuses Work
Before you start grinding for specific sets, you need to understand the new bonus system.
Equip two pieces from the same legendary set and you'll activate a smaller buff. Stack four pieces and you keep that first bonus while unlocking a stronger second effect. This tiered approach means partial sets still have value, but full commitment pays off.
All Eleven Armor Sets
Renegades brings seven legendary sets with bonuses and four additional themed sets. Here's the full list:
| Set Type | Armor Sets | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Legendary (with Bonuses) | Swordmasters, Sage Protector, Thriving Survivor, Ferropotent, Shrewd Survivor, Wild Anthem, New Demotic | Lawless Frontier, Playlists, Endgame PvP |
| Additional Sets | Dawning 2025, Mandalorian Armor, New Eververse Armor, Cabal Armor | Seasonal Events, Eververse |
Sword and Melee Sets
Two sets cater specifically to players who want to get up close with Swords and Glaives. Both work particularly well with the new Praxic Blade exotic, which brings Lightsaber-style blocking and deflection to Destiny.
Swordmasters
This set rewards aggressive melee play while keeping you alive when you block.
Every melee hit you land weakens that enemy's offense. You're not just dealing damage; you're also making close-range fights more survivable by debuffing everything you touch.
The four-piece bonus complements the Praxic Blade's block-heavy playstyle perfectly. Block incoming fire, then drop your guard to swing with protection covering you during the transition. The set turns defensive play into offensive opportunities.
Sage Protector
Sage Protector focuses on ability regeneration and ramping Sword damage. It takes more active management than Swordmasters but offers bigger offensive payoffs.
This creates a skill-based damage loop. You guard briefly to activate Blade Focus, then land hits to ramp up damage and lunge range. The extended lunge helps you stay on targets and chain attacks. Since your two-piece bonus grants extra ability energy during Blade Focus, the whole kit feeds into itself.
Heat Weapon Sets
Renegades introduces Heat weapons as a new weapon subfamily with their own heat and cooling mechanics. Two sets are built around these new guns, one for PvE and one for PvP.
Thriving Survivor (PvE)
This set connects grenade kills to weapon performance and creates snowball potential against groups of enemies.
Throwing a grenade and scoring kills sets up your weapons for the follow-up. Heat weapons cool down faster, and Primaries reload quicker. In high-density PvE content where you're chaining kills constantly, this set keeps ramping your effectiveness.
Shrewd Survivor (PvP)
Shrewd Survivor rewards aggressive weapon swapping and quick kills with Heat weapons, SMGs, and Hand Cannons.
In PvP, quick weapon swaps are standard practice. This bonus makes your guns snap to target faster and shoot more accurately after every swap. Landing hits keeps the buff rolling. Kill someone while buffed and you get an even stronger buff. The aim assist increase matters most in PvP since it makes follow-up shots easier against your next opponent.
Survivability and Utility Sets
These two sets provide defensive benefits and quality-of-life improvements that work across activities.
Ferropotent
Ferropotent helps you survive close calls and keeps ammo flowing when reserves run low.
The moment you disengage and start recovering, you become harder to kill and harder to knock off target. This helps you survive trades and recover from situations that would otherwise finish you off. The four-piece bonus is a safety net for ammo economy during longer encounters.
Wild Anthem
Wild Anthem focuses on reload speed and has special synergy with SUROS weapons.
PvP Primary Weapon Set
New Demotic
New Demotic supports Primary weapon users in PvP with mobility bonuses and team-play triggers.
Sliding into engagements is standard PvP movement. This bonus stabilizes your Primary after a slide, helping you win gunfights even while taking return fire. In team modes, losing a teammate triggers faster weapon handling so you can either avenge them or clutch the round. In Trials and similar modes, reviving allies also activates the bonus. The set rewards reactive, team-aware play.
Additional Armor Sets
Four more sets arrive with Renegades outside the standard bonus system.
| Armor Set | Description | Acquisition |
|---|---|---|
| Dawning 2025 Armor | Festive winter aesthetics tied to the annual holiday event | Dawning Event |
| Mandalorian Armor | Star Wars crossover theming that fits the expansion's outlaw narrative | TBD |
| New Eververse Armor | Additional cosmetic options through the in-game store | Eververse |
| Cabal Armor | Enemy faction aesthetics for Guardians | TBD |
Specific acquisition methods and any potential bonuses for these four sets haven't been confirmed yet.
New Exotic Armor
Each class gets a new exotic armor piece in Renegades:
- Fortune's Favor for Hunters
- Praxic Vestment for Titans
- Deimosuffusion for Warlocks
You can wear any of these alongside a four-piece legendary set since exotics only occupy one armor slot.
Eververse Ornaments
The Renegades update adds several exotic ornaments to Eververse.
Armor ornaments: Hypergolic Ribcage, Grit Blasted, and Triplicate Nornwear.
Weapon ornaments: Electro-Brass, Auspicious Prickle, Dragon's Might, Royal Guard Hilt, Kingsblade, Golden Age Hilt, Absinthium, Executive Aide, Nerium Oleander, Hawkesbury Devil, Collapse Dynamic, and Anointed.
