Bungie has pulled back the curtain on Vanguard Alerts, a new weekly activity system coming to Destiny 2: Renegades. The feature gives players a centralized hub for tracking weekly objectives and rewards across PvE and PvP content.
Launch Window
Renegades drops on December 2, 2025, but Vanguard Alerts won't go live until Week 2 of the expansion. That puts the system's debut at December 9, 2025, according to Bungie's This Week in Destiny article.
The reveal follows a busy stretch of Renegades news. Recent announcements include the Orders system replacing bounties, a weapons trailer showing off new gear, and confirmation of the Equilibrium dungeon launching December 13 with a 48-hour Contest race.
Accessing the System
Vanguard Alerts lives inside a dedicated tab within the Seasonal Hub. The tab displays all available activities, challenges, and rewards for the current week. Everything resets weekly, giving players fresh objectives each cycle.
Three Sections, Three Playstyles
The Vanguard Alerts tab splits into three distinct sections.
Vanguard
The Vanguard section covers PvE matchmaking playlists. All activities run preset modifiers designed for quick, low-friction sessions.
Arena Ops
Arena Ops introduces six-player PvE missions built for speed. Bungie pitched these as casual-friendly content that still delivers solid loot.
"These playlists contain a set of activities including the new six-player PvE Arena Ops that are fast, uncomplicated to complete, and have pre-set modifiers," the developers explained. "These are best for players that just want to relax and play some PvE while still earning great rewards."
Crucible
PvP players get their own section with dedicated reward pools. Like the other two categories, Crucible Alerts uses preset modifiers.
Grandmaster Tier
Grandmaster Vanguard Alerts offers a harder path for players chasing better loot. Bungie compared these to old-school GM Nightfalls, describing them as longer and more punishing than standard Grandmaster content in the Portal.
The payoff matches the difficulty. Hitting a Grade B or higher awards a Pinnacle weapon with the Accelerated Assault Origin Trait, plus bonus XP.
Raid and Dungeon Challenges
Both the Desert Perpetual raid and the Equilibrium dungeon tie into the weekly rotation. Each activity features its own challenges within Vanguard Alerts, letting players earn loot from those pools without running the full activity every week.
How Rewards Work
Vanguard Alerts runs on a multi-stage challenge structure. Clearing activities moves players through sequential stages, with rewards and XP unlocking at each tier.
Weapon drops include Tier 3+ gear scaled to account Power, making the system a reliable source for keeping loadouts current. Seasonal weapons featuring the Accelerated Assault Origin Trait drop here as well. Arena Ops and Crucible maintain separate weapon pools, so PvP-focused players get tailored drops.
Weekly Bonuses
First-stage completion in each section awards a one-time weekly bonus:
- Vanguard Alerts: 50 Chronologs
- Arena Ops: 50 Bright Dust
- Crucible Alerts: 50 Bright Dust
After finishing all stages, players can keep grinding for standard rewards and a random shot at extra seasonal drops.
What's Next
Bungie described the launch version as a starting point. The team is already looking at adding legacy raids and dungeons to the weekly rotation. Plans also include moving Vanguard Alerts into the Portal as a permanent fixture down the line.
The Bottom Line
Vanguard Alerts arrives December 9, 2025, offering a unified weekly system across Vanguard, Arena Ops, and Crucible content. With raid and dungeon integration, scaled weapon rewards, and a clear progression path, the feature shapes up as Bungie's answer to players looking for a focused weekly loop in Renegades.
