World's Edge is a map of fire and ice – from molten lava pits to frozen tundra – offering diverse terrain and intense firefights. In 2025, World's Edge has evolved with new locations (hello, Monument and Stacks), refreshed loot spawns, and a meta shaped by both casual play and ALGS pro strategies. This guide will take you on an insider tour of World's Edge for trios (ranked and pubs), highlighting hot drop hotspots, underrated landing zones, loot secrets, smart rotations, pro player insights, and legend-specific tips. Ready to drop in? Let's dive! ????

Hot Drop Hotspots: Where the Action Is Fiercest

Some areas of World's Edge guarantee early chaos. These hot drops attract multiple squads for high-tier loot and nonstop action. Here are the current hotspots and why they're so popular:

Monument POI
Monument - The new Fragment replacement and hottest drop zone

Monument (Former Fragment City Center)

The King of Hot Drops
Monument replaced the infamous Fragment West and now dominates the central map apexlegends.fandom.com. It's a massive Apex Games Museum bunker with a sniper nest up top and a glass floor overlooking the lower levels pcgamesn.com. Multiple teams love dropping here for the dense loot and immediate fights – it's one of the most popular drop zones in Apex si.com. Expect close-quarter battles in its hallways and third-parties peeking through the glass ceiling dotesports.com. If you survive this brawl, you'll be fully kitted and centrally positioned to rotate anywhere. (Pro tip: use the nearby Ring Console once the first ring closes to see the next ring and plan your rotation oneesports.gg.)

Stacks (Lava City Reborn)

Vertical Mayhem and Streamer Nostalgia
Stacks is a new high-rise POI that replaced Lava City on the southeast corner apexlegends.fandom.com. It's built from the tall "streamer building" and other fragments of old Fragment, now arranged into a cluster of construction towers with interconnected rooftops pcgamesn.com. Casual players and streamers flock here for zipline skirmishes across multiple floors and strong loot courtesy of Rampart's Big Maude nearby esports.gg. Stacks was literally designed to draw some heat away from Fragment's center, giving players a new hotspot for early fights dotesports.com. Drop here if you crave fast-paced vertical combat – but be cautious, as this "frantic combat space" often attracts some of the lobby's sweatiest players esports.gg!

Climatizer (Northeast)

Ice-cold loot and hot fights. Climatizer, added in Season 10, remains a high-tier loot zone that frequently sees multiple squads contest it apexlegends.fandom.com. It's a sprawling facility split by an icy fissure, complete with moving gondolas ferrying players between buildings apexlegends.fandom.com. Teams drop here for the excellent loot and because it's a good springboard to rotate into nearby Epicenter or Overlook fights. Climatizer is often listed among the top hot drops on World's Edge oneesports.gg, so don't expect a quiet landing – you'll likely be fighting across rooftops and ziplines amidst the blizzard. The payoff is ending up with high-end gear; just watch those open areas between the warehouses, as third-party fire can come from Epicenter or Survey Camp.

Lava Siphon (Sorting Factory 2.0)

High-tier loot and central positioning. Replacing the old Sorting Factory, Lava Siphon is a large central POI featuring multi-level buildings and flowing lava channels apexlegends.fandom.com. It boasts rich loot (it's officially a High Tier loot zone apexlegends.fandom.com) and its central location makes it strategically valuable – which means it's often crawling with squads in the first minutes. Expect a mix of indoor fights in the research facility and outdoor skirmishes around the lava fissures. The moving gondolas here add a dynamic element, letting players reposition during fights or make a quick escape. In both pubs and ranked, Lava Siphon is a contested drop for teams confident in their brawling skills. Surviving here can set your team up with endgame loot, but be ready for rapid third-parties from teams rotating out of Launch Site or Harvester.

Harvester

Risky "honeypot" at the center. The Planet Harvester sits dead-center on the map, and recent updates made it more enticing. The once-lethal central pit has been filled in with a "honey pot" platform containing high-tier loot dotesports.com esports.gg. Now you can dive straight down through the top of Harvester and grab goodies from the core – something that was a death sentence in the past. This change has made Harvester a hotter drop, since squads brave enough to land inside can come out with great gear. However, loot isn't plentiful enough for many teams, and Harvester's interior is very exposed. Often one squad will claim the center loot while another lands on the outer rings; intense fights ensue as soon as someone peeks out. Harvester's appeal is its central rotation potential (you can pivot to any zone from here), but be prepared to "fight for every inch" if another team contests you si.com.

Sleeper Landing Spots: High Reward, Low Risk

Not every game needs to start in a kill frenzy. World's Edge has several underrated landing zones that offer great loot and strategic value with a much lower risk of early elimination. In fact, it's common that no one drops at some of these spots in a given match oneesports.gg. Here are a few "sleeper" drop locations to consider for a quieter start:

Big Maude
Big Maude - Rampart's weapon shop with guaranteed high-tier loot

Big Maude (Rampart's Shop)

Arsenal Advantage on Spawn
Big Maude is Rampart's giant dropship near Stacks, and it's a gold mine for guaranteed weapons. Inside the showroom, you'll find fully kitted gold, purple, and blue guns on display – you just need to gather some Crafting Materials (from the bins outside or the materials station) to unlock them si.com. A squad that lands here can arm up with top-tier attachments in seconds. Big Maude is often uncontested (it's just outside the named POI, so many ignore it), making it a relatively safe loot haven. Keep an eye out for loot drones here as well – they frequently carry Vault Keys si.com. If you snag one, there's a vault just north of Geyser or another west of Stacks you can hit for guaranteed high-tier loot si.com. Once geared, you have options: third-party the fight in Stacks (arriving with better guns than the survivors) si.com, or rotate toward Geyser/Lava Siphon. Just note that Stacks is a magnet for high-skill teams, so only push in if you're confident in your loot and coordination.

Overlook (Far East Edge)

Usually literally "overlooked." Overlook is a small complex on the far eastern cliffside, and it lives up to its name by being ignored by most of the lobby. Often only one team (or none) lands at Overlook, because it's at the edge of the map and overshadowed by Fragment nearby si.com oneesports.gg. For a trio that wants a slow start, Overlook is ideal: it has just enough loot for your team (expect basic armor and weapons; not always high-tier, but workable si.com) and usually a Crafting Replicator and a Survey Beacon spawn. You can loot the main circular building and surrounding silos, then use the redeploy balloon to head west. Overlook offers multiple rotation paths – you can quickly slide into Fragment for action, or rotate north to Climatizer/Epicenter if the ring pulls that way si.com. If you need extra loot, you can dip into the tunnels south toward Geyser. Just be careful if another squad did land Overlook: the area is small, so whoever grabs the high ground (those silos and rooftop) will have the advantage in a fight si.com.

Bloodhound's Trials (Northwest)

PvE for Purple Loot
Trials is a PvE area overlooking Skyhook where you fight prowler beasts for loot. It consistently yields high-tier armor and gear if you clear all three waves of prowlers, making it arguably the best early loot spot on World's Edge oneesports.gg. A single team can come out of Trials with multiple purple or even gold items, gaining a huge upper hand oneesports.gg. Better yet, many players avoid Trials because it's slightly removed from major POIs and they may not want to deal with the AI enemies. This means you can often have Trials to yourself (or share it with one polite squad that takes turns clearing waves). The key is to eliminate the prowlers quickly – gunshots will echo across Skyhook and might attract a hungry third party. Once you've grabbed the loot, you have great rotation options: Skyhook is just to the east for any remaining fights or extra loot, Countdown is to the south, and there's a jump tower by Trials to reposition toward the first ring as needed si.com. Many pros love Trials for its guaranteed loot – just make sure your team has decent weapons to start (there are a few supply bins and floor loot at the top to get you going).

Thermal Station (Southwest)

Plenty of loot, minimal contest. Thermal Station is a large four-quadrant POI in the southwest, famous for its central drilling tower and surrounding lava pools. Despite being high-tier loot area with lots of loot bins, Thermal is often very quiet – if the dropship path isn't directly over it, you can land here and not see another squad for days si.com oneesports.gg. If you're alone, spread out across its subsections (main drill, the side villages, and the train station platform) to vacuum up loot. By the time you're done, your team should be "stacked" with supplies and maybe a good sniper from the surrounding buildings si.com. Thermal typically has a Replicator as well, so you can craft upgrades in peace si.com. One advantage of Thermal Station is its defensibility – if the ring ends up coming your way, holding Thermal can be strong due to the solid cover and high ground on the drill. If the ring pulls elsewhere, you have a few rotation paths: head east through the canyon toward Staging/Harvester, or go north past Tree to Lava Siphon (using the bridge over the lava). There's also a balloon at Thermal's eastern edge to fly out. It can be a slow start, but as one guide notes, Thermal "has everything you need to survive the first two rings with little problems" si.com – a great choice for teams prioritizing survival over early kills.

Other Low-Key Spots

Loot up while others fight. In addition to the above, several other POIs consistently see few or no teams landing in early game oneesports.gg, making them smart choices for risk-averse squads:

  • Lava Fissure (West): High-tier loot platforms and a central zipline tower apexlegends.fandom.com. It's a bit off the beaten path and often uncontested. From Fissure you can rotate into Countdown or Skyhook for third-party opportunities alegends.gg.
  • The Tree (South): A smaller POI near Thermal with decent loot and usually empty oneesports.gg. If ring pulls south, Tree is great for an early setup; if not, you can quickly jump to Thermal or Launch Site.
  • The Geyser (East): Isolated but with guaranteed movement (the Geyser launch pad) and a nearby Vault. Hardly anyone drops here oneesports.gg, yet you get a safe start and can rotate via the geyser jump towards Fragment or Lava Siphon.

These areas might not offer instant action, but they do offer consistent loot with minimal interference, which can set your team up to enter the mid-game fully prepared while other squads are licking their wounds.

High-Tier Loot and Hidden Treasures

World's Edge is packed with loot, but not all loot is distributed equally. To get ahead, smart players target the high-value loot sources and know where to find hidden stashes. Here are some loot tips and secrets (updated for 2025):

Vaults (Secret Treasure Rooms)

Gold-Tier Guaranteed
The map contains several Vaults stocked with gold-tier items (armor, attachments, etc.). As of recent updates there are four Vaults on World's Edge (with a new one added in the north near Skyhook dotesports.com), and Vault Keys drop more frequently from cargo drones now esports.gg. Keep an eye (and ear) out for the golden Loot Ticks flying around – shoot them down and they often drop a key. If you grab one, make a beeline for the nearest Vault before other teams do. Common vault locations: in the tunnel between Geyser and Overlook (north of Geyser), inside the cave west of Stacks (where Lava City's tunnel was), and in the Mining Pass between Staging and Landslide si.com. Hitting a vault early can outfit your whole team in purples/golds, giving you a huge advantage for mid-game. (Quick tip: Loba can snag items from Vaults with her Black Market ult without a key – but it will trigger an alarm, alerting everyone nearby. Use with caution!)

Countdown's Blast Walls (Guaranteed Armor)

If your drop path allows you to land at Countdown, don't forget the trick to secure high-tier armor there. Countdown has two control panels on opposite sides that, when activated, open up the locked compartments at the bottom of the POI. Inside you will almost always find a Purple shield and two Blue shields, and occasionally gold gear si.com. A team that lands split on those panels can hit the buttons and grab these armors within seconds – giving you an edge in any early fight. Because of this, Countdown can be contested by squads wanting the free armor; if you go for it, try to beat others to the button. Once geared, you can decide to take any fight at Countdown or rotate out knowing you have the best shields in the server.

Harvester "Honey Pot"

The Season 17 update turned Harvester's central abyss into a loot haven dotesports.com. You can skydive straight down through the top of Harvester onto a new platform that holds high-tier loot (often a couple of purple items) esports.gg. It's a risky maneuver – essentially a "loot dive" in a very exposed spot – but the reward can be immediate purple armor or a top-tier weapon. This can be a game-changer if you pull it off at the start of a match. If you do grab the honey pot loot, try to get out quickly (Valkyrie or Horizon can exit faster, or even a Wraith portal). Enemies on the periphery might decide to collapse on the center once they notice you went for it. Still, this addition means Harvester is no longer just about mid-tier floor loot; there's golden loot up for grabs if you're bold enough.

Bloodhound's Trials

We mentioned it as an underrated drop, but it's worth reiterating from a loot perspective: clearing Trials nets multiple high-tier drops (often a Gold armor or weapon in the final cache). You don't even have to drop there initially – some teams loot Skyhook then swing by Trials later to quickly kill the prowlers and claim leftover loot. If you hear gunfire at Trials, it likely means someone is doing the PvE – that's your window to third-party and maybe steal the loot and some kills. Essentially, Trials is a loot piñata; make sure someone on your team grabs a Tier 3 loot item (the gold loot) so it doesn't go to waste oneesports.gg. In tight endgames, having an extra gold helmet or knockdown shield from Trials can make all the difference.

Big Maude's Weapon Store

Big Maude isn't just a good drop; it's also a mid-game stop for some squads. If you find yourself near Lava City/Stacks with surplus crafting materials, consider hopping into Big Maude to purchase a fully-kitted weapon from the Vend-it machines si.com. The selection is usually one gold weapon and a couple purple ones (rotating weapon types). For 100 crafting you can grab a gold R-301 or Mastiff (as examples) which comes decked out with all attachments. This can instantly upgrade a teammate's loadout. Just be aware that crafting makes noise and alerts nearby teams – and Big Maude is in a bowl-like area – so do it only if you're relatively safe or have teammates on lookout.

Secret "No-Name" Stashes

World's Edge has a few unnamed spots that surprisingly have good loot. For instance, the Storage Room inside the train tunnel (between Fragment West/Monument and Skyhook) is a tiny area with a cluster of stationary train cars – this spot actually has a High-Tier loot designation in loot tables and a handful of bins apexlegends.fandom.com. It's easy to miss, but wandering in there can top off your ammo and healing items. Another example: the small camps north of Lava Fissure (often called "Hill Valley" or "Survey Camp 2") have enough loot for a squad and are rarely visited early. When moving through the map, think outside the named POIs – check caves, outbuildings, and minor camps for extra loot. Those little supply bins tucked under bridges or in caves can yield that one Attachment or scope you've been missing.

Smart Rotations and Third-Party Strategies

Surviving World's Edge isn't just about landing and looting – it's about where you move next. Effective rotations can help you catch enemies off-guard (or avoid them entirely) and get into zone with a superior position. Here are some rotation strategies and insider paths to up your game:

World's Edge Rotation Map
World's Edge rotation paths and key choke points

Finish Fights Fast, or Expect Company

The Third-Party Rule
Early fights are fun, but on World's Edge they can turn into a third-party fiesta. The map's layout means there are usually 2-3 squads in each section, and gunfire is a dinner bell. If you engage a team at a hot drop (Fragment/Monument, Stacks, etc.), try to resolve the fight quickly or disengage, because prolonged fights will draw in other squads from nearby POIs si.com. This is especially true in central areas (Fragment or Harvester) where teams from all sides can collapse on you. Use finishers or execute downed enemies swiftly, grab what you need, and start moving. Conversely, you can be the third party: if you hear an ongoing fight, time your push to arrive just as one team gets knocked – you'll often clean up with minimal risk. As one guide succinctly put it, keep your ears open for gunshots and be the team that reaps the benefits of a third party si.com!

Plan Your Ring Rotation

World's Edge is large, and getting caught on the wrong side of the Ring is deadly. Always keep one eye on the map and rotate early if the zone is far alegends.gg. The map has many natural chokepoints (narrow canyons around the edges and between major POIs), so rotating early helps you beat enemy gatekeepers to those spots. If you have a Controller legend (Catalyst, Wattson, Caustic, etc.), use the Ring Console when the first ring closes to see where the next ring is going oneesports.gg – this intel is huge for planning rotations. For example, if you learn the ring will end up north, you can reposition to Epicenter or Skyhook ahead of time and hold a strong spot. Nothing feels worse than scrambling through the lava field as the ring closes and a squad like TSM is already hunkered down in the next circle waiting for you. Avoid that by being proactive. As a rule of thumb, the farther from center you drop, the sooner you should rotate to avoid a long, exposed trek to safety.

Use the "Back Roads" (Lesser-Known Paths)

One advantage of World's Edge's design: there are usually multiple ways to get from A to B. Savvy teams take uncommon routes to avoid ambushes. For instance, instead of running the obvious path from Skyhook through Landslide (Train Yard) to Fragment – which is wide open – you can rotate through the train tunnel system. There's a tunnel from Skyhook that leads south toward Landslide (the "Rain Tunnel"), and from there another connected tunnel (the Mining Pass) that pops out near Staging/Harvester apexlegends.fandom.com. By chaining tunnels, you can traverse a huge distance under cover and potentially come up behind teams who took the high ground route. Similarly, if you're leaving Thermal Station heading toward Lava Siphon, consider going around the Lava on the west side (past Tree) rather than over the central bridge, especially if you suspect a team is holding that bridge. Knowing these side routes and cut-throughs is what seasoned players do to rotate safely. It often pays to rotate "around" rather than "through" contested areas.

Third-Party Pathing Examples

Want to snag easy kills? Rotate into fights strategically. Some examples:

  • Land Big Maude and listen for the chaos at Stacks. Once the firefight quiets down, use the balloon or hop the ridge to push into Stacks and clean up whoever's left si.com. You'll likely find two teams mid-heal or looting – perfect targets.
  • Drop Survey Camp (a quiet start), then rotate to Epicenter. Often teams from Fragment East and Climatizer clash at Epicenter; coming from Survey Camp lets you approach from high ground behind them. By the time you arrive, you can pick off weakened squads.
  • Start at Launch Site, loot up, then rotate through the caves toward Tree or Thermal. Teams from Dome or Harvester may meet in that area mid-game; you can slip in from an off-angle through the lava fissure side. Essentially, you become the unexpected third squad in what those teams thought was a 1v1.

The key is timing and approach: use audio cues and map knowledge to arrive just as fights conclude, and approach from an angle or route that enemies aren't watching.

Vertical Mobility & Redeploys

World's Edge has plenty of repositioning tools if you know where to look. Jump Towers (balloons) are scattered around (e.g., at Overlook, between Fragment and Survey Camp, south of Thermal, near Dome, etc.) – use them to cover large distances or hop over dangerous open areas. The Geyser in the east acts as a free balloon as well apexlegends.fandom.com. Post-Season 17, even some lava chasms are traversable on foot now (the lava has cooled enough) pcgamesn.com, which means you can cut across areas that used to be impassable – just remember it will burn you a bit. Don't be afraid to cross a lava field in exchange for a safer rotation; a syringe or two is a small price for flanking an enemy who expected you on the main road. And of course, legend abilities can facilitate rotations (more on that below). A Valkyrie ult or Pathfinder zipline can reposition your team over a mountain or out of a bad spot in seconds. In fact, many players feel having a Valkyrie is almost essential on World's Edge because of how often you need to reposition long distances or escape a closing ring forums.ea.com. Use those vertical/long-range movement options to outplay teams stuck on the ground.

Position for the Late Game

As the match progresses, try to get to the zone early and take power positions. World's Edge has lots of strong endgame spots: the roof of a building in Fragment, the tall rocks near Lava Fissure, the interior of Countdown's pit, the top of Epicenter's ice tower, etc. If you predict where final ring might be, getting there first can win you the game. For example, if the ring looks like it's ending around Thermal Station, a smart team will rotate there ahead of time and maybe hold the central drill high ground or the plateau just north of Thermal. Teams coming in late will have to push you under duress of the ring. Similarly, if it's an Overlook finish, you might take the cliffs to the west of Overlook and rain fire on anyone forced out of cover. Early rotation to a strong position is a hallmark of high-level play (and why Recon/Controller legends are valued for scan info). Just be sure to fortify or use cover once you're there – other teams might have the same idea, and you'll need to defend your spot.

In summary, rotations on World's Edge reward map knowledge and timing. Avoid the obvious paths when you can, exploit the terrain (tunnels, balloons, lava, etc.) to move unpredictably, and always be thinking one step ahead: "If I were an enemy team, where would I gatekeep or third-party from?" Then rotate in a way that turns the tables.

How the Pros Play World's Edge (2025 Insights)

Watching Apex Legends pro teams play World's Edge is like a masterclass in strategy. They approach the map quite differently from your average ranked match. Here are some current pro player preferences and trends on World's Edge:

Split Drops and Uncontested Loot

In ALGS tournaments, you won't see 10 teams slam into Fragment off drop like in public matches si.com. Pros prioritize survival and placement points, so they avoid early 50/50 fights. Through a drop-spot draft or gentleman's agreements, each team typically claims a different POI or section of the map. For example, one team might take Skyhook (huge POI, tons of loot), another takes Climatizer, another takes Lava Siphon, etc., ensuring everyone can loot safely. Fragment (Monument), the most notorious POI, is often claimed by a single team – in the 2023 Split 2 Playoffs the team Fire Beavers got Fragment all to themselves in most games si.com. This meant they started every round with massive loot and central positioning, essentially uncontested in the map's strongest drop spot. (In one group they were contested by another team, MDY, but Fragment/Monument is actually big enough for two squads to split if they're careful si.com.) The takeaway: pros love loot, and if they can get a large POI uncontested, they'll take it and stock up.

Corner Drops for Consistency

Many pro teams favor edge drops where they can control their area and rotate in on their own terms. For instance, Team Liquid (hypothetical example) might claim Climatizer every game – it's far north, so rarely contested, has a Survey Beacon for ring info, and they can rotate late from there with Valkyrie if needed. Another squad might always drop Launch Site or Tree in the south for similar reasons. These locations might not have the highest kill potential early, but they set the team up for a solid mid-game with decent loot and no backfill (nobody coming from behind because they're at the map edge). Skyhook is a perennial favorite among competitive teams as well – it's huge (supports multiple teams' worth of loot), often has a Beacon, and has the Trials loot nearby for an extra boost. Pros love having that kind of buffered, predictable start.

Calculated Contests

Sometimes, though, contests happen even in pro play – and it's usually big news. A recent example was Aurora Gaming and DarkZero contesting each other at Harvester in Split 2 Pro League si.com. Harvester is central and has decent loot, but not really enough for two teams, so this was a risky fight. DarkZero (two-time champs) are known to be deadly in fights, so contesting them at Harvester was bold by Aurora. The reason a team might contest is if they value that drop spot's strategic position so highly that they're willing to fight for it. In this case, Harvester being central meant whoever won it had very flexible rotations (lots of neighboring zones to rotate into) si.com. However, the downside is both teams often ended up griefing each other and falling behind. Generally, pros avoid contests – it "harms each other's chances" as one analysis put it si.com – but when they do happen, it's because that POI is considered worth the gamble.

Fast Rotations and Zone Play

Pro teams rotate early, often by second ring closing, to set up in endgame positions. They highly value Ring Console info (you'll see controllers like Wattson or Catalyst on many teams just to get next-ring scans). A team that drops on a far edge will typically Valt ult or move as soon as they finish looting to avoid being caught by the ring or other teams. For example, if TSM loots Launch Site and sees ring pulling north, they might immediately take the balloon or Valk ult and fly to Epicenter to get position. This disciplined early rotation is why you see 15+ squads alive in Ring 4 or 5 in ALGS si.com – everyone's rotated and bunkered, waiting for the late game. In ranked or pubs you get more mid-game fights; pros deliberately hold fire unless necessary to keep their position secret and safe.

Power Positions & Micro Play

Pros know every piece of cover on World's Edge. They hold power positions like their lives depend on it (because they do!). Examples: the tall tower in Fragment East, the ridge outside Lava Fissure, the second-floor overlook in Countdown, or the rocks near Geyser's opening – these are spots you often see endgame rings, and pros will get to them first. They set up Watson fences, Caustic traps, or Rampart walls (in older metas) to fortify. Also, pros utilize micro-rotations in fights: using Pathfinder ziplines or Valk jetpacks to reposition just 20 meters to a better angle, or having Gibraltar hold a dome until a third party passes, etc. One interesting Season 17 addition was Monument's sniper nest – in competitive scrims, teams experimented with holding the top of Monument (which has that glass floor) to oversee Fragment. It can be strong, but also hard to defend multiple angles. Still, it shows how pros explore new map features to see if they confer an advantage. In general, pro teams will play patiently on World's Edge: they secure a good spot in zone, then only take fights if they're advantageous (like a 3v3 with superior position or a clear third-party). It's a contrast to pub play, where people might W-key into Fragment for fun – pros will only do that if they're forced or if they see a clear opening.

TL;DR for Ranked
If you want to play World's Edge like the pros: choose a drop spot you can loot safely, rotate towards the ring early, and hold a strong position. Avoid unnecessary fights until you have to – but when you do fight, collapse quickly and decisively. It's about smart choices and teamwork rather than just hot-dropping for kills (save that for pubs!). Watching ALGS VODs can really highlight effective rotations on this map – try to emulate how your favorite team moves around World's Edge and you'll find yourself outliving more chaotic squads.

Legend Picks and Tips for Key Areas

Finally, let's talk legends. Team composition and legend abilities can make a huge difference on World's Edge. Certain legends really shine on this map's terrain and POIs. Here are some legend-specific tips and how to leverage their abilities in key areas of World's Edge:

Valkyrie Valkyrie – The Skyward Redeemer

Valk is arguably the MVP of World's Edge team comps. Her Skyward Dive ultimate lets your squad reposition across the map, bypassing obstacles like cliffs or lava lakes entirely. This is invaluable for reaching zone or initiating a surprise third-party from above. Stuck in Sorting Factory's pit with a ring closing? Valk ult out. Need to leapfrog from Overlook to a far western circle? Valk gets you there. Many feel "having a Valkyrie is essential on this map" for rotations forums.ea.com, and indeed in ALGS almost every squad ran a Valk for the rotations. Tip: use Valk's passive jetpack to take high ground positions your enemies might not expect – e.g. land on top of the tall Refinery chimneys at Climatizer or the upper catwalks of Harvester. From there you can rain down fire or initiate Skyward Dive safely. Also, during her ult skydiving, Valk can scan for nearby enemies – use that intel to choose a safe landing spot or to divebomb a lone squad. In short, Valk's mobility turns World's Edge's size from a problem into an opportunity. Just watch out for teams laser-beaming you out of the sky during the redeploy (serpentine while skydiving!).

Pathfinder Pathfinder – King of Mobility (and Ziplines)

Pathfinder's grappling hook and zipline gun are fantastic for World's Edge's vertical environments. He can grapple onto the sniper nest atop Monument's museum or the crane in Fragment West faster than anyone, gaining your team a dominant perch. In Stacks, Pathfinder can zipline your whole squad from one high rooftop to another, outflanking enemies who thought they were safe pcgamesn.com. His mobility lets him rapidly loot dispersed areas – e.g., grab a Survey Camp beacon then grapple over to Epicenter in no time. And don't forget, Path's reworked class perk (Skirmisher) lets him spot incoming care packages, which can guide your rotations to fresh loot. Specific tip: in areas like Thermal Station or Lava Fissure, Pathfinder can set a zipline across the lava gap, giving your team a quick escape or a way to pressure enemies who are using the other side of the fissure. He's also excellent for taking off-angle positions in fights: grapple to a weird spot on a rock or building to get a flank while enemies focus on your team at ground level. Essentially, Pathfinder's agility lets a good team dictate the engagement – you decide when and where to fight. Just be mindful of his large hitbox in close quarters. Pairing Path with a beacon/Ring Console in early game (if he can still scan or a teammate can) helps mimic that recon advantage pros use.

Wraith Wraith – Portals and Survival

World's Edge might be big, but fights often come down to building-to-building breaches and risky rotations – Wraith excels at both. In places like Fragment/Monument, Wraith's Into the Void tactical can get her out of a nasty crossfire (say, ducking out of Monument's bunker when third-parties shoot from above). More importantly, her Dimensional Rift (portal) enables huge plays: set a portal from a safe spot to a downed teammate's banner in the open, or from inside a building that's about to get pushed to a safer building. On World's Edge, one clutch Wraith portal can relocate your whole team across a deadly choke. For example, if the final ring is pulling off the high ground down to an open field, a Wraith can portal her squad from the losing position to the winning position. In practice: imagine you're stuck below in Fuel Depot (beneath Lava Siphon) and the last circle is ending above on the tracks – a Wraith portal can take your team up there at the last second, denying enemies the positional advantage. Wraith is also amazing for third-partying: you can portal your squad into a fight, and if things go south, you take the exit back. One advanced tip: use Wraith's portal in Harvester's new center – drop in to grab loot and immediately portal out to the surface to avoid getting swarmed. Overall, Wraith remains a popular pick in high-level play for her clutch factor and hitbox. World's Edge gives her plenty of opportunity to use her portal for both aggression and escape.

Octane Octane – Jump Pad Aggression

The buffed verticality of POIs like Stacks has Octane written all over them. Octane's Launch Pad lets your squad bounce onto high roofs or across gaps in an instant. In Stacks, an Octane pad can sling your team onto an enemy-occupied tower from ground level, catching them off guard. In Fragment, you can pad from one building's roof to another to push a sniper or to flee when third-partied. Octane's speedy Stim is also great for quickly looting and rotating; he can dash across open ground (like the ice at Epicenter or the lava fields) faster, reducing exposure time. A common strat: Octane stim + slide jumping through Train Tunnel or other dangerous passages to make a tough rotation quickly. One caution: Octane's playstyle can be risky – pad into a team at the wrong time and you might get melted. But in the hands of a coordinated trio, Octane enables coordinated rushes that overwhelm campers. Imagine late-game, three squads left around Lava Siphon's big building – an Octane pad could launch your squad onto the roof to take out the team up top, while the enemies below scramble. Also, Octane's pad is wonderful for repositioning under fire: bounce-bat away from a bad spot (you can even double-jump in midair to throw off enemy aim). Given how often endgames on World's Edge occur around buildings or uneven terrain, Octane's quick movement can secure clutch positions (like hopping onto the large rock in final ring for cover). And yes, he makes those "crafty Wraith plays" even craftier – sometimes Wraith + Octane combined means portal one way, jump pad another, driving enemies crazy. If you love speed and aggression, Octane is a blast on this map.

Defensive Legends - Strengths
  • Gibraltar's Dome protects open rotations
  • Caustic dominates buildings and chokepoints
  • Wattson's fences lock down entire structures
  • Controller class gets Ring Console intel
Defensive Legends - Weaknesses
  • Less mobility for repositioning
  • Struggle with long rotations
  • Can get zoned out of position
  • Need mobility teammates

Gibraltar, Caustic, Wattson – Holding It Down: Not all legend picks are about zooming around – some shine by controlling space, which is vital in World's Edge endgames. Gibraltar is less meta now but still valuable: his Dome of Protection is perfect for those open rotations (e.g., crossing the lava near Tree or shielding while using a balloon). And in Fragment's streets or open fields by Overlook, his Defensive Bombardment can force enemies to clear out of good cover. Caustic thrives in World's Edge's many buildings and bunkers – a Caustic holding the train car buildings in Fragment or the rooms in Countdown can make it hell for attackers. His gas is also great in Harvester's tight corridors or the train tunnels, creating temporary area denial. Wattson similarly can fence up entire buildings (like the big construction "Hotel" in Fragment East or the Survey Camp warehouses) to turtle effectively. Wattson's Interception Pylon is a blessing in late circles where multiple teams throw grenades and Gibby ults – common on World's Edge when final ring is open area. A well-placed Wattson ult will zap all incoming ordnance, letting your team hold cover while others get blown up. If you know you'll play a position-heavy game, consider a defensive legend. For instance, when a final ring pulls to Climatizer's open snowfield, dropping a Gibby dome at the last second or bunkering with Caustic barrels can be the winning move once everyone is forced out of cover. Defensive legends turn strong positions into fortresses – a huge asset when you've rotated early and plan to hold. Just be aware that mobility is king for repositioning, so if you run one of these slower legends, ensure your other team members can cover movement (e.g., pair Caustic with Valk or Wraith so you're not stranded out of zone).

Recon Legends (Bloodhound, Seer, Crypto) – Intel is power on World's Edge, where there are lots of buildings and crevices to hide in. Bloodhound's scans are super useful in Fragment/Monument early fights – a single scan can reveal three squads around you in the chaos. In the sprawling Skyhook city, scans help flush out corner-peekers in those apartments. Bloodhound's ultimate also lets you move quickly to chase down teams or retreat. Seer, with his sensor and Exhibit ultimate, has become a potent pick as well – he can detect heartbeats through the walls of places like Harvester or Train Tunnel, ensuring no rat or hiding team goes unnoticed. Stopping heals/revives with Seer is huge in third-party situations on this map, where denying a quick armor swap can mean wiping a squad before another arrives. Crypto provides a different kind of recon: his drone can clear a room in Trials or check if a Vault is camped before you approach. Crypto is also the ultimate insurance for recovering banners in hot zones – say your teammates died in Fragment, you can drone in from afar, snag their banners, and even respawn them at a beacon (Crypto can use the drone to insta-respond at beacons now). That can totally turn a game around on World's Edge given how many risky fight locations exist. Plus, Crypto's EMP is deadly in final rings around tight cover (like the trucks outside Lava Siphon or the crates on the train tracks): it softens up everyone and clears Wattson fences/Caustic traps. Overall, having at least one recon-oriented legend on your team will make rotations safer and fights more informed. Many top teams pair a recon (Seer/BH) with mobility (Valk/Wraith) and anchor (Costic/Wattson) to cover all bases.

Team Composition Summary
In summary, balance your team for World's Edge: you'll generally want mobility (to traverse the big map and reach high ground), information gathering (to avoid surprises and pick fights wisely), and possibly area control (to lock down the strong positions you take). Legends like Valkyrie, Pathfinder, Wraith, Octane give you movement; Bloodhound, Seer, Crypto give you recon; Caustic, Wattson, Gibby give you holding power. Mix and match to suit your style. And remember – no matter who you pick, teamwork and positioning will win the day. A well-coordinated squad of Off-Meta legends can still beat a disjointed squad of all S-tier picks.
