Greasing Her Palms stands out as one of the more challenging early quests in ARC Raiders. You get three objectives spread across three different maps, and none of them come with clear directions. This guide breaks down exactly where to go and what to do at each location.
Quest Overview and Requirements
This quest sends you to three separate maps with fairly vague instructions for each objective. You'll visit Dam Battlegrounds, Buried City, and Spaceport in whatever order you prefer.
One objective requires the Dam Surveillance Key, which Shani gives you automatically when you accept the quest. The other two just need you to reach specific spots. Here's the good news: you don't need to survive the raid after completing each objective. Once you trigger the quest progression at a location, that step counts as done even if you die immediately after.
Managing Your Quest Key
Objective 1: Visit the Locked Room in Water Treatment Control
Your first stop is Dam Battlegrounds, where you need to get inside a locked room at the Water Treatment Control building using your Dam Surveillance Key.
Finding Water Treatment Control
Water Treatment Control is a large building sitting right in the middle of the Dam Battlegrounds map. Zoom in on your map and you'll see the name clearly labeled. This central spot means constant action, since players naturally move through this area all match long. The building also has solid loot, which only increases the PvP risk.
Getting to the Locked Room
Come at Water Treatment Control from the southwest side. You'll spot a gap between structures with stairs going up.
- Find the staircase on the southwest side
- Go up the first flight of stairs
- Take the door on your right at this level (you want the main floor, not the roof)
- Head straight down the hallway toward the southern wall
- Walk to the end of the corridor, clearing out any ARC enemies you run into
- At the hallway's end, you'll see a door with a red keycard reader
Use your Dam Surveillance Key on this door. Step inside and the objective completes automatically.
What's Inside
The room contains some genuinely useful loot. You'll find rare item lockers, electronics spawns, and a weapons case. Make sure you've got inventory space before opening the door if you want to grab these items. The loot quality here actually justifies the PvP risk.
Objective 2: Scope Out the Rocket Thrusters
This objective probably causes the most confusion. You get told to "scope out the rocket thrusters" near Rocket Assembly, but there are multiple thrusters in the area and the game doesn't specify which one matters.
Pinpointing the Right Thruster
The specific thruster you need sits about 150 meters southwest of the Rocket Assembly point of interest. Don't go to the thrusters closest to the building. You need the ones furthest away, positioned closer to Control Tower A6 and Container Storage.
Look for the southwesternmost thruster in the whole area. It's lying on its side, held up by large mechanical braces. The location feels pretty exposed since it's out in the open.
Visual Landmarks
You'll know you're at the right spot when you see these reference points:
- Coming from the east, another wrecked thruster sits behind you
- Control Tower A6 is visible to your right
- The thruster lies horizontal, supported by big metal frames
Completing This Step
Walk up to the thruster and hang around for a few seconds. The quest progresses automatically once you've been close enough for long enough. You don't interact with anything, and you don't need to survive afterward.
Objective 3: Visit the Barricaded Area on Floor 6
This final objective carries the most risk. The Space Travel Building sits dead center on the Buried City map and it's loaded with good loot, which means you should expect company.
Location and Initial Approach
The Space Travel Building shows up labeled on your map when you zoom in enough. Mark it with a waypoint once you're topside. Its central position makes it a natural meeting point for players hunting quality items.
Your safest bet is approaching from the Parking Garage, which sits northeast of the Space Travel Building. This route gives you plenty of cover during the approach, multiple escape options if things go sideways, and vantage points to scout the building before you commit. Use this path to check how hot the area is before moving in.
Reaching the Sixth Floor
Once you're inside, head to the northwestern part of the building to find the stairs. Climb up to the sixth floor, then move east down the main hallway. You'll hit the barricaded door eventually.
The doors might still be barricaded, or they might already be breached if someone beat you here. Depending on which way you come in, you might need to breach them yourself or you might be able to skip that step entirely. Either way, once you cross through the doorway into the barricaded area, the quest completes.
Combat Preparation
Turning In the Quest
After hitting all three locations and finishing all three objectives, head back to Speranza and talk to Celeste. She'll give you your reward when you turn in the quest.
Strategy Tips
Choosing Your Route Order
You can tackle these three objectives however you want. Think about these factors:
The Water Treatment Control stop on Dam Battlegrounds needs your Dam Surveillance Key and you're basically guaranteed to see PvP because of where it sits. The Spaceport rocket thruster is straightforward once you know where to go, but the open ground leaves you vulnerable. The Space Travel Building on Buried City has the heaviest combat risk, though you can play it smart by coming in from the Parking Garage.
Playing It Safe (or Not)
Remember, you don't have to extract after each objective. You can sprint to the location, trigger the completion, and not care if you die right after. That said, both the Water Treatment Control room and the Space Travel Building have loot worth collecting, so surviving and extracting might be worth the extra effort.
Reading the Room
Each objective puts you in areas with different player traffic levels. Water Treatment Control gets consistent action because it's centrally located and has good loot. The rocket thruster spot is more isolated but exposed. Space Travel Building is a popular loot zone where you should just expect fights.
Scout before you commit when possible, especially for the Space Travel Building. A quick look around can tell you whether you're walking into an active firefight or if the coast is relatively clear.
