Why You Should Upgrade Scrappy
Scrappy is your Rooster companion in Arc Raiders who generates passive resources while you're running raids. This mechanical chicken sits in your raider's room and automatically collects basic crafting materials during your missions. Scrappy gathers Metal Parts, Fabric, Plastic Parts, Chemicals, Rubber Parts, and Seeds, all fundamental resources you'll constantly burn through as you progress.
Each upgrade level increases the rate at which he acquires these materials, giving you a stronger passive income stream. Basic materials are typically the first resources you'll run out of when crafting equipment, so upgrading Scrappy early helps maintain your crafting economy.
Complete Upgrade Requirements
Scrappy has five training levels total. Here's what you need for each:
To upgrade Scrappy, head to your Workshop from your room. Click on Scrappy's icon to bring up his training interface, then select Train.
The Lush Blooms Event: Your Most Efficient Farming Method
Before we dive into specific item locations, you need to understand the Lush Blooms map event. This dramatically changes your farming strategy and represents the fastest method for collecting fruit items.
Each map in Arc Raiders features rotating hourly events displayed on the map selection screen (Night Mode, Electric Storm, Lush Blooms). The Lush Blooms event specifically increases the spawn rate of Nature-category loot across the selected map.
When It Happens
Lush Blooms events occur frequently. Almost every hour features a Lush Blooms event on at least one map. Check the map selection screen to see which maps currently have active Lush Blooms events.
How to Farm During Lush Blooms
Focus your raid on locating and looting fruit baskets instead of searching for specific trees. The baskets spawn across various areas, making systematic area sweeps more effective than targeting specific landmarks. If you're playing with a team, coordinate sharing duplicate materials to help everyone complete their upgrades faster.
Special note: The Hydroponics Dome Complex on Dam Battlegrounds normally doesn't spawn fruit items, but during Lush Blooms events, fruit baskets can appear even there.
Finding Non-Fruit Items
These three items spawn in searchable containers (drawers, cabinets, furniture) found in Residential and Commercial zones. The spawn rate is random, so thoroughly searching multiple containers increases your chances.
Dog Collar (Required: 1 for Level 2)
The Dog Collar is a Residential item that primarily spawns in housing areas.
Best locations:
- Dam Battlegrounds: Pale Apartments, Ruby Residence (northwest section, safest early-game option)
- Buried City: Santa Maria Houses, Plaza Rosa, Grandioso Apartments
- The Blue Gate: Village, Raider's Refuge, Ruined Homestead, Abandoned Housing Project
- Spaceport: Unlikely to find here
Alternative method: Breach containers in battery-powered shacks (commonly found in swamp areas) have confirmed Dog Collar drops.
Cat Bed (Required: 1 for Level 4)
Cat Beds are marked as both Residential and Commercial items, giving them more potential spawn locations.
Best locations:
- Dam Battlegrounds: Testing Annex (highly recommended for density), Ruby Residence, Pale Apartments
- Buried City: Santa Maria Houses, Plaza Rosa, Grandioso Apartments
- The Blue Gate: Village (dual Commercial/Residential), Raider's Refuge, Ruined Homestead, Abandoned Housing Project
- Spaceport: Unlikely spawns
Very Comfortable Pillows (Required: 3 for Level 5)
Very Comfortable Pillows share identical spawn locations with Cat Beds. Since you need three pillows, focus on high-density loot areas.
Alternative locations: All Cat Bed locations work, but Buried City Old Town is most efficient for collecting all three pillows.
Finding Fruit Items: Trees, Plants, and Foraging
Five different fruit types are required: Lemons, Apricots, Prickly Pears, Olives, and Mushrooms.
Fruit Gathering Basics
Tree interaction: Most fruit trees allow direct interaction. Walk around a tree to find the prompt to "shake" or "shove" it, causing fruit to drop on the ground.
Natural spawns: Fruit also spawns naturally on the ground near their associated plants, so always check the surrounding area.
Lemons (Required: 3 for Level 3)
Lemons come from Lemon Trees, which are relatively small (closer to bushes) with bright green foliage.
Best locations:
- The Blue Gate: Olive Grove (southern area, highest concentration), Village, Ruined Homestead
- Buried City: Marano Park (central, but dangerous)
- Spaceport: Staff Parking (southern area, safer option), East Plains
- Dam Battlegrounds: Only during Lush Blooms at Hydroponics Dome Complex
Apricots (Required: 15 total - 3 for Level 3, plus 12 for Level 5)
Apricots are the most demanded fruit item. Apricot Trees are fairly small and blend into the landscape.
Best locations:
- Dam Battlegrounds: Red Lakes (eastern area, best early-game location with high tree density)
- The Blue Gate: Olive Grove (dangerous but efficient), Village
- Buried City: Marano Park (more Apricot Trees than Lemon Trees)
- Spaceport: East Plains
Red Lakes safety: While isolated, the Red Lakes can be observed from Research & Admin and Testing Annex from a distance. Still relatively safe compared to central areas.
Prickly Pears (Required: 6 for Level 4)
Prickly Pears come from Cacti and typically spawn on the ground around cactus plants rather than being directly harvestable. The fruit isn't always present, so check multiple cacti.
Best locations:
- Dam Battlegrounds: Red Lakes, Victory Ridge (north of Hydroponic Dome Complex) - highest concentration
- Buried City: Southern map edge (south of Plaza Rosa, safer peripheral location)
- Spaceport: East of Container Storage area
- The Blue Gate: No cactus spawns
You can combine Apricot and Prickly Pear farming in the Red Lakes area efficiently.
Olives (Required: 6 for Level 4)
Olives spawn almost exclusively on The Blue Gate map. Olive Trees are large and visually recognizable.
Best locations:
- The Blue Gate: Olive Grove (definitive location with massive trees), Checkpoint (southwest), Village (center fields)
- Other maps: No reliable spawns
Mushrooms (Required: 12 for Level 5)
Mushrooms are large, white, and visually distinctive. They spawn in specific environmental conditions rather than on trees.
Mushroom spawning environments:
- On or near dead, fallen tree trunks (logs on the ground)
- In watery areas, particularly in swamp zones
Best locations (all on Dam Battlegrounds):
- Formicai Hills: Southern forest area near Scrap Yard and Wreckage (best option)
- Swamp: Western area around fallen trunks and damp tunnels (massive area, more time-consuming)
- Hydroponic Dome Complex: Southern dome (occasional spawns)
- Other maps: Unlikely or very rare
Farming strategy: Mushroom collection is particularly annoying when relying solely on natural spawns. Prioritize Lush Blooms fruit basket farming over manual Mushroom hunting to reduce time investment.
Strategic Farming Tips
Combining Multiple Objectives
- Red Lakes (Dam Battlegrounds): Apricots + Prickly Pears in a relatively safe area
- Olive Grove (The Blue Gate): Lemons + Apricots + Olives in one dangerous location
- Old Town (Buried City): Dog Collars + Cat Beds + Pillows through systematic building searches
Team Play
If you're playing with teammates, coordinate your upgrade needs. Trade duplicate materials to accelerate everyone's progress.
Safe Box Strategy
For dangerous farming locations (Olive Grove, Marano Park), always equip a safe box before starting. Place collected materials directly into it as you gather them. This ensures you keep materials even if you die.
Economic Bonus
Fruit sells for 1,000 credits each and weighs little. Collect extras during Lush Blooms events to turn upgrade farming into profitable runs.
Upgrade Path Summary
