Faction intel for NuCaloric, Traxus, and MIDA adds contract-specific tasks on top of the collectible grind, requiring you to juggle multiple objectives per deployment. Marathon's Archivist title tracks eight separate challenge categories. Three focus on zone intel: Perimeter Intel (7 collectibles), Dire Marsh Intel (7 collectibles), and Outpost Intel (7 collectibles). These are physical pickups hidden throughout each map that you need to find and extract with successfully. Three more categories tie into faction contracts: NuCaloric Intel, Traxus Intel, and MIDA Intel each require completing specific contract-based challenges for that faction. At least one additional category remains redacted, likely tied to endgame content or seasonal milestones. Finishing all eight categories unlocks the Archivist title, which displays permanently beneath your Runner's name. The total grind spans dozens of successful extractions across every zone, making this one of Marathon's more demanding titles to earn.

Marathon operates on a seasonal wipe cycle. Every three months, Bungie resets your gear, player level, faction progression, and contract progress. You start each season from scratch, rebuilding your loadout and upgrades from nothing. Titles are one of the few things that carry over permanently. Cosmetics, Codex progression, and earned titles all persist through resets, making them the only lasting markers of what you've accomplished. The Archivist title proves you completed every intel challenge during a season where your progress was constantly at risk of being lost to a bad extraction. Once unlocked, it stays on your account forever, visible to every player you encounter in future seasons.

Tau Ceti IV's three surface zones each present different obstacles for intel collectors. Perimeter is the most open map with long sight lines, so you can spot threats early but snipers can spot you just as easily when you stop to grab a collectible. Dire Marsh is denser and darker, with tight corridors and ambush points that make every intel location feel like a potential trap. Outpost mixes interior buildings with outdoor transitions that create unpredictable combat scenarios. UESC security forces patrol near many intel locations, and their aggro can draw attention from nearby Runner crews. Collecting all 21 zone intel items across these maps requires knowing where each pickup sits and building extraction routes that account for patrol timers and PvP traffic.
