Rogue joined Marvel Rivals as a Vanguard character in Season 5.5. She's a melee tank built around close range combos and multiple dash abilities, which means her crosshair needs are pretty different from ranged characters. This guide covers two crosshair approaches for Rogue players, full settings breakdowns, her complete ability kit, and combo strategies to help you get the most out of this high difficulty hero.
Crosshair Requirements
Rogue's aiming requirements are unique compared to most Marvel Rivals characters, so it's worth understanding them before you pick a crosshair.
She's a melee character whose entire kit revolves around close range combat. Her basic attacks have a 4 meter range, and her two main dash abilities cover fixed distances of 12 meters and 8 meters. You're not leading shots or tracking targets at distance like ranged characters do. Instead, you need to judge whether enemies are within dash range and center your aim for ability activation.
This has created two different schools of thought among Rogue players when it comes to crosshair design.
Range Indicator Crosshair (Advanced)
This design uses extended arms to help you visually gauge whether targets fall within range of Rogue's dash abilities. The technique involves aiming slightly to the right of your target and using the crosshair arm as a distance reference.
How the Range Indicator Works
Rogue has two dash abilities with different ranges:
- Fatal Attraction: 12 meter range
- Chrono Kick Combo: 8 meter range
The crosshair arm length is calibrated so that when your target appears at the tip of the arm (while aiming slightly right), you're within Fatal Attraction's 12 meter range. This technique helps a lot against moving targets where judging distance gets tricky.
The same principle applies to the 8 meter Chrono Kick Combo range, though you'll need to be closer for the follow up punch to connect.

Who Should Use This Crosshair
This setup works well if you're new to Rogue and want visual help judging dash ranges. It's also good for players who frequently miss dashes on moving targets or prefer consistent visual reference points over relying on gut feeling.
Minimalist Center Dot (Experienced)
This approach strips everything down to a simple center dot with no additional elements. The idea is straightforward: Rogue's abilities have fixed ranges that you'll naturally learn through practice, and extra crosshair lines just add visual noise without much benefit once you know her kit.
Why Minimalist Works for Rogue
Since Rogue doesn't aim projectiles or lead shots, a complex crosshair doesn't serve much purpose beyond your first few hours with her. Fatal Attraction (dash and pull), Chrono Kick Combo (dash and launch), and Ability Absorption (dash and steal) all have set ranges that become second nature through gameplay.
The center dot gives you a clean reference point for centering your aim on targets without cluttering your screen.

Rogue's Full Ability Breakdown
Getting comfortable with Rogue's complete kit is the foundation for playing her well. Below is a rundown of each ability and how it works.
Primary Attack: Basic Punches
Rogue's main attack is a melee punch combo with 4 meter range. You get two standard punches followed by a double punch finisher. This is your go to damage source between ability cooldowns.
That 4 meter range means you need to be right on top of enemies for basic attacks to land. Your dash abilities are how you close that gap.
Secondary Ability: Damage Absorbing Shield
Rogue's secondary activates a shield that blocks a portion of incoming damage. While the shield is up, pressing primary attack turns your punch into a dash attack instead.
The damage your dash attack deals scales based on how much damage you absorb while shielded. More absorption equals more dash damage.
Fatal Attraction (12 Meter Dash)
Dash forward, then press again to unleash a burst of Chronovium power from Rogue's ring, dealing continuous damage to nearby enemies. After a delay, the energy retracts and pulls all enemies toward Rogue.
Range: 12 meters
You need to be within 8 meters to follow up with the punch after dashing. The pull effect triggers after a delay, not instantly. You can activate the ability right away and keep attacking during the timer before the pull goes off, which lets you stack damage by using other abilities while Fatal Attraction is still running.
Chrono Kick Combo (8 Meter Dash)
Dash forward and launch the enemy, putting them into the Entering Flight state. Activate again to knock down nearby enemies. Your next two Power Surge Punch attacks become ranged, pierce enemies, and grant bonus health.
Range: 8 meters
The initial dash sends enemies upward, and you can perform two ranged attacks while they're airborne. These ranged attacks pierce through enemies and give you bonus health. You can also knock enemies back to the ground with other abilities.
While in the aerial state after launching enemies, you're not locked into staying airborne. You can transition into other abilities, knock enemies back down, and continue combos on the ground. This freedom opens up a lot of options.
Ability Absorption (Steal Enemy Abilities)
This is Rogue's signature mechanic. When you activate it, Rogue dashes to an enemy, knocks them to the ground, and steals one of their abilities for temporary use.
Not all hero abilities can be stolen, but each hero always gives you the same stolen ability. These stolen abilities have a very short duration (you'll see a timer on screen), so you want to pick your targets carefully.
Beyond stealing abilities, Rogue gets different buffs depending on the enemy's role:
| Enemy Role | What You Get |
|---|---|
| Vanguard | Extra health |
| Support | Bonus healing, plus the enemy's outgoing healing drops temporarily |
| DPS | Increased outgoing damage, plus the enemy's outgoing damage drops temporarily |
Identifying Stealable Abilities: When Ability Absorption is off cooldown, look at enemy heroes and you'll see an icon above their head showing which ability you'll steal. No memorization needed.
Targets Without Stealable Abilities: Some enemies like Hawkeye have no stealable ability. Using Ability Absorption on them instead resets your Fatal Attraction cooldown. You can spot these targets because there's no ability icon above their head.
Example Stolen Abilities
A few examples of abilities Rogue can steal:
- Doctor Strange: Steals a Doctor Strange ability for temporary use
- Luna Snow: Steals the ice ball ability, letting you freeze enemies
- Blade: Steals the vampire ability, giving you extra life steal
- Hela: Steals Hela's skill for combo extension
Ultimate: Mass Absorption
Rogue's ultimate continuously absorbs ultimate ability energy from all nearby enemies while stealing stats based on their role.
This affects multiple enemies within a large radius. You drain enemy ultimate charge (there's a UI indicator for this) and apply the same role based debuffs as Ability Absorption, but to the entire enemy team at once. It's both a debuff for the enemy team and a setup tool for your team's other ultimates.
Combo Strategies and Techniques
Rogue earned that high difficulty rating because mastering her burst damage means skillfully weaving abilities together. Below are core concepts and specific combo examples.
Core Combo Principles
Ability Interchangeability: Unlike many characters with rigid combo structures, Rogue can start fights with any ability and follow up with any other ability. This freedom creates tons of possible combo paths.
Punch Integration: Between ability uses, you can fit in basic punches to boost your total damage output.
Crowd Control Chaining: All three of Rogue's main abilities provide some form of crowd control (dashes, pulls, knockups, knockdowns). Chaining these keeps enemies locked down while you deal damage.
Example Combos
- Start with Chrono Kick Combo (launches enemy)
- Two punches while airborne
- Activate kick knockdown
- Use Ability Absorption
- Three kicks
- Finish with Fatal Attraction dash
- Start with Fatal Attraction dash
- Steal Luna Snow's ice ball ability
- Freeze with stolen ability
- Follow up with Chrono Kick Combo
- Start with Fatal Attraction (activate immediately)
- Double tap dash
- Activate Hela's stolen skill
- Single punch finisher
The Hela combo demonstrates Rogue's ability to delete targets extremely quickly when stealing the right abilities.
Finding Your Own Combos
The combos above are starting points. Because Rogue's abilities can be interchanged freely and stolen abilities add another variable, there are plenty of variations to discover. Experiment with different ability orders and stolen ability setups to find what clicks with your playstyle.
Picking Your Crosshair
- You're new to Rogue
- Judging dash distances gives you trouble
- You like having visual aids for consistent play
- Moving targets make you miss dashes frequently
- You have experience with Rogue or other melee characters
- You prefer a clean, uncluttered screen
- You trust yourself to learn range through practice
- Visual clutter throws you off during fast fights
Both approaches work. The best crosshair is whichever one helps you play more consistently. A lot of players start with the range indicator crosshair and switch to the minimalist dot once they're comfortable with Rogue's kit.
