This guide covers everything you need to know about gearing your Restoration Druid in The Burning Crusade Classic. From your first level 70 dungeon runs through Sunwell Plateau, you'll find detailed gear recommendations for every slot across all phases of TBC Classic.
Resto Druids shine brightest when stacking healing-over-time effects, with Lifebloom at the core of your toolkit. Your gear choices should reflect this playstyle, focusing on stats that boost your sustained healing output while keeping your mana pool healthy for longer fights.
Stats and Gearing Philosophy
Before jumping into specific gear recommendations, let's break down what stats actually matter for Resto Druids and why certain pieces outperform others.
Primary Stat Priorities
Healing Power is your bread and butter. Every point directly increases how hard your heals hit, making high Healing Power items valuable throughout every phase of content.
Spirit fuels your mana regeneration while you're not casting and scales with Innervate. Items with high Spirit are especially useful for building an "Innervate set" that maximizes mana recovery during that cooldown.
Intellect expands your mana pool and adds a bit of spell crit. A bigger mana pool means more total healing before you go OOM, which matters a lot on progression fights.
MP5 (Mana Per 5 Seconds) gives you steady mana regen that keeps ticking even while casting. Druids generally value Spirit more because of Innervate scaling, but MP5 still helps you maintain throughput.
Spell Haste and Why It Matters
Starting in Phase 3 with Black Temple and Hyjal Summit, Spell Haste becomes a big deal for Resto Druids. Haste shrinks your Global Cooldown (GCD), letting you squeeze more spell casts between Lifebloom refreshes.
- 113 Spell Haste: Lets you fit 5 GCDs between Lifebloom refreshes instead of 4. This is a major healing boost.
- ~125 Spell Haste: The realistic target once you account for server latency.
- 242 Spell Haste: Gives you better timing on final tick bloom resets, though returns drop off sharply past this point.
Going much beyond 247 Haste actually hurts your efficiency. This creates an interesting balancing act where you might need to swap Haste gear for pure Healing Power pieces depending on your current totals.
For Pre-Phase 3 Content: Don't worry about Haste yet. Meaningful Haste items don't exist in Phases 1 and 2, so just stack Healing Power, Spirit, and Intellect.
Profession Choices
Your professions have a huge effect on your BiS options, especially in early phases. Knowing these trade-offs helps you make smart decisions about what to level.
Early Phase Professions (Phases 1-2)
Tailoring delivers exceptional early gear through the Primal Mooncloth set:
- Primal Mooncloth Robe (Chest)
- Primal Mooncloth Shoulders
- Primal Mooncloth Belt
The Primal Mooncloth set offers the highest Healing Power available pre-raid and stays competitive well into Phase 1 raiding. The set bonus gives extra healing when your target drops below 35% health. These pieces require Mooncloth Tailoring specialization and are Bind on Pickup (BoP), so you need the profession to wear them.
Whitemend Set (also Tailoring, but BoE):
- Whitemend Hood
- Whitemend Pants
You can buy these on the Auction House or have any Tailor craft them. The 2-piece bonus boosts your healing by 10% on targets below 35% health, and it stacks with Primal Mooncloth if you're wearing both.
Tribal Leatherworking gives you the Windhawk set:
- Windhawk Hauberk (Chest)
- Windhawk Bracers
- Windhawk Belt
Windhawk falls slightly behind Primal Mooncloth in raw Healing Power but offers solid stats and remains viable through early content. Like Primal Mooncloth, these are BoP and need the specialization.
Mid-to-Late Phase Professions (Phases 3-5)
By Phase 3, you can safely drop Tailoring and Leatherworking (unless you're your group's drummer for Drums of Battle) for professions with stronger endgame benefits:
Enchanting lets you put Enchant Ring - Healing Power on both rings, adding a total of +40 Healing Power that no other profession can match in that slot.
Jewelcrafting becomes valuable in Phase 5 with craftable pieces like:
- Amulet of Flowing Life (Neck), a BiS option
- Ring of Flowing Life (BoE Ring)
Engineering provides:
- Wonderheal XT40 Shades (Phase 1-4), a competitive helm with a unique look
- Wonderheal XT68 Shades (Phase 5), an upgraded version with better stats
Alchemy in Phase 5 offers:
- Redeemer's Alchemist Stone, one of the best trinkets around. It combines high Healing Power with mana restoration when you use potions.
Crafted Gear in Later Phases
Phase 3 introduces craftable Haste gear:
- Tailoring: Swiftheal Wraps (Bracers), Swiftheal Mantle (Shoulders)
- Leatherworking: Bracers of Renewed Life, Shoulderpads of Renewed Life
Phase 5 adds more options:
- Tailoring: Robe of Eternal Light (Chest), Hands of Eternal Light (Gloves, BoE)
- Leatherworking: Leather Chestguard of the Sun, Leather Gauntlets of the Sun (BoE)
The BoE gloves from both professions mean you don't need the profession to wear them, opening up options for non-crafters.
Aldor vs. Scryers
Resto Druids should go Aldor for several reasons:
Shoulder Enchants:
- Aldor: Greater Inscription of Faith (+33 Healing, +4 MP5)
- Scryers: Greater Inscription of the Oracle (+22 Healing, +6 MP5)
The Aldor enchant gives significantly more Healing Power, which lines up with what Resto Druids actually want.
Classic Alternatives: If you have access to Classic Naxxramas or Zul'Gurub enchants, you can use Resilience of the Scourge (Naxxramas) or Zandalar Signet of Serenity (Zul'Gurub). These work as competitive alternatives if you haven't hit Exalted with Aldor yet.
Tier Set Analysis
Knowing how tier set bonuses work helps you decide if chasing tier pieces makes sense or if off-set items with better raw stats are the smarter play.
Tier 4: Malorne Raiment (Phase 1)
Set Pieces:
- Crown of Malorne (Head), Prince Malchezaar in Karazhan
- Shoulderguards of Malorne, High King Maulgar in Gruul's Lair
- Chestguard of Malorne, Magtheridon in Magtheridon's Lair
- Handguards of Malorne, The Curator in Karazhan
- Legguards of Malorne, Gruul the Dragonkiller in Gruul's Lair
Set Bonuses:
- 2-Piece: Your helpful spells have a 5% chance to restore up to 120 Mana. The proc rate is low, but it triggers on all spells, so it adds up over long fights.
- 4-Piece: Cuts the cooldown on Nature's Swiftness by 24 seconds. Not a game-changer, but it does give you more emergency heals.
Verdict: The Primal Mooncloth and Whitemend Tailoring sets generally beat Tier 4. Only grab tier pieces for slots where you lack better options or to free up tier tokens for other raiders.
Tier 5: Nordrassil Raiment (Phase 2)
Set Pieces:
- Nordrassil Headguard, Lady Vashj in Serpentshrine Cavern
- Nordrassil Life-Mantle, Void Reaver in Tempest Keep
- Nordrassil Chestguard, Kael'thas Sunstrider in Tempest Keep
- Nordrassil Gloves, Leotheras the Blind in Serpentshrine Cavern
- Nordrassil Life-Kilt, Fathom-Lord Karathress in Serpentshrine Cavern
Set Bonuses:
- 2-Piece: Adds 6 seconds to Regrowth duration. Minor benefit since Regrowth isn't a primary spell in most situations.
- 4-Piece: Increases Lifebloom's final heal by 150. Since you typically keep Lifebloom rolling without letting it bloom, this bonus barely matters in practice.
Verdict: Individual Tier 5 pieces have strong raw stats and are worth wearing. The set bonuses themselves do almost nothing, so pick pieces based on item stats rather than chasing set completion.
Tier 6: Thunderheart Raiment (Phases 3-5)
Set Pieces:
- Thunderheart Helmet, Archimonde in Hyjal Summit
- Thunderheart Spaulders, Mother Shahraz in Black Temple
- Thunderheart Tunic, Illidan Stormrage in Black Temple
- Thunderheart Gloves, Azgalor in Hyjal Summit
- Thunderheart Legguards, The Illidari Council in Black Temple
Phase 5 Additional Pieces:
- Thunderheart Bracers, Kalecgos in Sunwell Plateau
- Thunderheart Belt, Brutallus in Sunwell Plateau
- Thunderheart Boots, Felmyst in Sunwell Plateau
Set Bonuses:
- 2-Piece: Cuts Swiftmend cooldown by 2 seconds. Sounds useful in theory, but Swiftmend mostly sits unused for emergencies.
- 4-Piece: Boosts Healing Touch healing by 5%. Healing Touch can hit hard if you talent for it, but Druids excel at HoTs, and long cast-time heals are better left to other classes.
Verdict: Tier 6 pieces have great raw stats, making them worth wearing even with weak set bonuses. The Phase 5 bracers, belt, and boots are BiS for their slots. Just expect to be lower priority for tier tokens than classes whose bonuses actually do something.
Pre-Raid Best in Slot
Before stepping into raid content, you'll want the best available gear from dungeons, reputations, professions, and early PvP. Don't feel pressured to complete this entire list before raiding though. Karazhan and early bosses are perfectly doable in quest greens with some dungeon upgrades.
Head Slot
| Item | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Whitemend Hood | Tailoring (BoE) | Best option with high Healing Power and a great socket |
| Wonderheel XT40 Shades | Engineering | Solid pick for Engineers |
| Cowl of Naaru Blessings | 50 Badge of Justice | Good badge option if other slots are covered |
| Hallowed Crown | Harbinger Skyriss, The Arcatraz | Dungeon drop alternative |
Recommendation: Whitemend Hood is extremely powerful and you can get it pre-raid. Even without the 2-piece Tailoring bonus, it's still the best head option. Budget accordingly since the materials can get pricey.
Shoulder Slot
| Item | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Primal Mooncloth Shoulders | Mooncloth Tailoring (BoP) | Highest Healing Power, no sockets |
| Hallowed Pauldrons | Grandmaster Vorpil, Shadow Labyrinth | Easy dungeon drop |
| Pauldrons of Sufferance | Epoch Hunter, Old Hillsbrad Foothills | Another dungeon option |
Recommendation: Tailors should grab Primal Mooncloth Shoulders without question. Non-Tailors should farm Shadow Labyrinth for Hallowed Pauldrons.
Back Slot
| Item | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Lifegiving Cloak | World Drop (BoE) | Best pre-raid but potentially expensive |
| Cloak of Suturing | Patchwerk, Classic Naxxramas | Great if you have Classic access |
| Avian Cloak of Feathers | Talon King Ikiss, Sethekk Halls | Easy to farm dungeon drop |
Recommendation: Avian Cloak of Feathers from Sethekk Halls is solid and easy to farm. Save your gold for other slots unless Lifegiving Cloak shows up cheap on your server.
Chest Slot
| Item | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Primal Mooncloth Robe | Mooncloth Tailoring (BoP) | Dominant choice, stays competitive into raids |
| Windhawk Hauberk | Tribal Leatherworking (BoP) | Alternative for Leatherworkers |
| Hallowed Garments | Murmur, Shadow Labyrinth | Non-profession alternative |
Recommendation: Primal Mooncloth Robe is the clear winner and stays BiS well into Phase 1 raiding. Prioritize getting this if you have Tailoring.
Wrist Slot
| Item | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Bindings of the Timewalker | Keepers of Time Exalted | Rep reward, no profession need |
| Windhawk Bracers | Tribal Leatherworking (BoP) | Alternative for Leatherworkers |
| Bands of the Benevolent | Talon King Ikiss, Heroic Sethekk Halls | Heroic dungeon alternative |
Recommendation: Bindings of the Timewalker only requires reputation grinding, making it accessible to everyone. Farm Caverns of Time dungeons to hit Exalted.
Hand Slot
| Item | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Gloves of the Living Touch | Leatherworking (BoE) | Best pre-raid option, purchasable |
| Bloody Surgeon's Mitts | Broggok, The Blood Furnace | Budget dungeon alternative |
| Gloves of Preservation | Fel Embers quest, The Shattered Halls | Quest reward option |
Recommendation: You can buy Gloves of the Living Touch on the Auction House. The price can be steep, but Mitts of the Treemender from Karazhan will replace them fairly quickly, so budget accordingly.
Waist Slot
| Item | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Primal Mooncloth Belt | Mooncloth Tailoring (BoP) | Highest Healing Power by a wide margin |
| Windhawk Belt | Tribal Leatherworking (BoP) | Leatherworking alternative |
| Cord of Sanctification | Epoch Hunter, Heroic Old Hillsbrad | Heroic dungeon option |
Recommendation: Primal Mooncloth Belt's Healing Power lead makes it the obvious choice for Tailors. Non-Tailors should chase heroic options or the Leatherworking piece.
Leg Slot
| Item | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Whitemend Pants | Tailoring (BoE) | Great option, especially with 2-piece bonus |
| Pontifex Kilt | Warlord Kalithresh, Heroic The Steamvault | Heroic dungeon drop |
| Kamaei's Cerulean Skirt | World Drop (BoE) | Expensive but powerful |
Recommendation: Whitemend Pants offer great value, especially combined with Whitemend Hood for the set bonus. Pontifex Kilt is a solid, farmable alternative.
Foot Slot
| Item | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Slippers of Serenity | Exarch Maladaar, Auchenai Crypts | Normal dungeon drop |
| Boots of the Pious | Pathaleon the Calculator, Heroic Mechanar | Heroic alternative |
| Curate's Boots | Fel Embers quest, The Shattered Halls | Quest reward |
Recommendation: Slippers of Serenity drop from a Normal dungeon, making them the most accessible option. Farm Auchenai Crypts early in your gearing process.
Neck Slot
| Item | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Karja's Medallion | Shutting Down Manaforge Ara quest, Netherstorm | Easy quest reward (Aldor only) |
| Natasha's Guardian Cord | The Hound-Master quest, Blade's Edge Mountains | Easy quest reward |
| Gezzarak's Fang | Gezzarak the Huntress, Terokkar Forest | World boss in outdoor zone |
Recommendation: Complete the Netherstorm and Blade's Edge quest chains for easy neck upgrades. These quest rewards will carry you until raid drops.
Ring Slots
| Item | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ring of Fabled Hope | The Black Stalker, Heroic The Underbog | Best pre-raid ring |
| Ancestral Band (Horde) | Thrallmar Revered | Easy rep ring |
| Ring of Convalescence (Alliance) | Honor Hold Revered | Easy rep ring |
| Spiritualist's Mark of the Sha'tar | Battle of the Crimson Watch quest, Shadowmoon Valley | Quest reward |
Recommendation: Chase reputation rings early since they're guaranteed rewards for time invested. Ring of Fabled Hope is worth farming Heroic Underbog once you're comfortable with heroics.
Trinket Slots
| Item | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Essence of the Martyr | 41 Badge of Justice | Top priority badge purchase |
| Lower City Prayerbook | Lower City Revered | Great on-use effect |
| Rejuvenating Gem | Drake bosses, Classic Blackwing Lair | If you have Classic access |
| Eye of the Dead | Sapphiron, Classic Naxxramas | If you have Classic access |
| Oshu'gun Relic | Gava'xi quest, Nagrand | Free quest trinket |
| Scarab of the Infinite Cycle | Aeonus, The Black Morass | Dungeon trinket option |
Recommendation: Save your Badge of Justice for Essence of the Martyr first. It's BiS throughout all of TBC. Lower City Prayerbook makes an excellent second trinket while you're farming badges.
Weapon Slots
One-Handed Weapons:
| Item | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Gladiator's Salvation | PvP Vendor (Season 1) | Best pre-raid, requires Arena |
| Hand of Eternity | Blacksmithing (BoE) | High Healing Power but expensive |
| Shockwave Truncheon | Murmur, Heroic Shadow Labyrinth | Heroic dungeon option |
| Gavel of Pure Light | The Sha'tar Exalted | Rep weapon |
Two-Handed Weapons:
| Item | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian | Classic Naxxramas | If you have it from Classic |
| Serpentcrest Life-Staff | Mekgineer Steamrigger, The Steamvault | Accessible dungeon drop |
| Seer's Cane | The Scryers Revered | Rep weapon |
| Epoch-Mender | Temporus, The Black Morass | Dungeon drop |
Recommendation: A one-handed weapon paired with an off-hand generally gives better stats than two-handed options. Go for Gladiator's Salvation if you PvP, otherwise chase Hand of Eternity or Shockwave Truncheon.
Off-Hand Slot
| Item | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Tears of Heaven | 25 Badge of Justice | Highest Healing Power |
| Windcaller's Orb | Cenarion Expedition Exalted | More balanced stats |
| Sapphiron's Right Eye | Sapphiron, Classic Naxxramas | If you have Classic access |
Recommendation: Tears of Heaven should be your second Badge of Justice purchase after Essence of the Martyr. Until then, grind Cenarion Expedition rep for Windcaller's Orb.
Idol Slot
| Item | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Idol of the Emerald Queen | Ambassador Hellmaw, Shadow Labyrinth | BiS for all of TBC |
| Harold's Rejuvenating Broach | The Ultimate Bloodsport quest, Nagrand | Acceptable alternative |

- Complete Violet Eye reputation for Violet Signet of the Grand Restorer
- Save Badge of Justice for Essence of the Martyr (first priority) and Tears of Heaven (second priority)
- Kill Magtheridon for Naaru Lightwarden's Band from the head quest
- Farm Gruul's Lair for Teeth of Gruul (neck) and tier shoulders if you're not a Tailor
Phase 2 Best in Slot
Phase 2 introduces Tier 5 content with significant gear upgrades. You gain more freedom to drop Tailoring and Leatherworking since raid gear starts beating crafted options.
Phase 2 BiS Overview
Head: Nordrassil Headguard (Lady Vashj, Serpentshrine Cavern)
- Excellent stats that beat Whitemend Hood
- Engineers can use Wonderheel XT40 Shades as an alternative
Neck: Lord Sanguinar's Claim (Kael'thas verdant sphere quest, Tempest Keep)
- Best Healing Power option
- Teeth of Gruul still works for mana-focused builds
Shoulders: Nordrassil Life-Mantle (Void Reaver, Tempest Keep)
- Slightly higher Healing Power than Primal Mooncloth with sockets
- Runetotem's Mantle (Lady Vashj) offers more Spirit as an alternative
Back: Sunshower Light Cloak (Kael'thas Sunstrider, Tempest Keep)
- Clear BiS back slot
- High competition from other classes
Chest: Nordrassil Chestguard (Kael'thas Sunstrider, Tempest Keep)
- Finally beats Primal Mooncloth Robe
- More balanced stats with good Healing Power

- Best bracers until Phase 3
- The wrist slot stays underwhelming overall
Hands: Mitts of the Treemender (Maiden of Virtue, Karazhan)
- Still BiS from Phase 1
- Nordrassil Gloves are a sidegrade at best
Waist: Primal Mooncloth Belt (Tailoring), Belt of the Long Road (Tailoring BoE), or Girdle of Zaetar (Void Reaver, Tempest Keep)
- Primal Mooncloth still leads in raw Healing Power
- Other options offer more balanced stats
Legs: Gilded Trousers of Benediction (Doomwalker) or Earthsoul Leggings (Karazhan Opera)
- World boss legs stay BiS
- Karazhan legs are still excellent
- Nordrassil Life-Kilt is decent but not an upgrade
Feet: Gold-Leaf Wildboots (Doom Lord Kazzak) or Orca-Hide Boots (Leotheras the Blind, Serpentshrine Cavern)
- Orca-Hide Boots become the realistic target
- Both are excellent options
Rings:
- Coral Band of the Revived (Lady Vashj), fantastic balanced ring, high priority
- Jade Ring of the Everliving (Karazhan), still excellent for raw Healing Power
Trinkets:
- Essence of the Martyr (Badges), still BiS
- Direbrew Hops (Brewfest seasonal event), if available, matches Essence of the Martyr
- Oshu'gun Relic stays solid
Weapon: Lightfathom Scepter (Lady Vashj, Serpentshrine Cavern)
- Massive upgrade over Light's Justice
- Far ahead of other options
Off-Hand: Tears of Heaven (Badges) or Windcaller's Orb (Cenarion Expedition Exalted)
- No Phase 2 upgrades in this slot
Idol: Idol of the Emerald Queen
- Still BiS, no changes
Phase 2 Badge of Justice Priorities
With the existing badge vendor, priorities stay the same:
- Essence of the Martyr (41 badges), if not already owned
- Tears of Heaven (25 badges), if not already owned
- Cowl of Naaru Blessings (50 badges), starter/catch-up option
- Necklace of Eternal Hope (25 badges), starter option
- Bishop's Cloak (25 badges), starter option
- Band of Halos (25 badges), starter option
- Prioritize Lady Vashj kills for Coral Band of the Revived, Lightfathom Scepter, and Nordrassil Headguard
- Clear Tempest Keep for Lord Sanguinar's Claim, Sunshower Light Cloak, Nordrassil Life-Mantle, and Girdle of Zaetar
- Keep running Karazhan if you still need Phase 1 items like Mitts of the Treemender or Jade Ring of the Everliving
Phase 3 Best in Slot
Phase 3 introduces Spell Haste as a critical stat, fundamentally changing how you approach gearing. Aim for ~125 Haste for the 5 GCD rotation while balancing Healing Power.
Haste Gearing in Phase 3
The arrival of Haste creates gearing complexity:
- Too little Haste (<113): You're stuck with 4 GCDs between Lifebloom refreshes
- Sweet spot (125-242): You have the 5 GCD rotation with room for latency
- Too much Haste (>247): Diminishing returns hurt your HoT efficiency
You might need different gear sets for different situations:
- High Haste set for 5 GCD rotation fights
- High Healing Power set for single-target tank healing where 4 GCDs work fine
Phase 3 BiS Overview
Head: Thunderheart Helmet (Archimonde, Hyjal Summit) or Cowl of Benevolence (Teron Gorefiend, Black Temple)
- Both are excellent and very close in power
- Tier set bonuses are weak, so choose based on availability
Neck: Lord Sanguinar's Claim (Phase 2)
- Still BiS; Nadina's Pendant of Purity (Mother Shahraz) has stats better suited for other healers
Shoulders: Thunderheart Spaulders (Mother Shahraz, Black Temple)
- Best raw stats despite weak set bonuses
- Crafted haste options (Shoulderpads of Renewed Life, Swiftheal Mantle) if you need Haste
Back:
- Shroud of the Highborne (Illidan Stormrage, Black Temple), has Haste, highly contested
- Shroud of Forgiveness (Gurtogg Bloodboil, Black Temple), higher Healing Power, no Haste
Chest: Thunderheart Tunic (Illidan Stormrage, Black Temple)
- Best raw stats despite weak set bonus
- Obvious upgrade over Nordrassil Chestguard
Wrists: Multiple competitive options:
- Rejuvenating Bracers/Bracers of Martyrdom (Rage Winterchill, Hyjal Summit), highest Healing Power with socket
- Swiftheal Wraps (Tailoring), Haste option
- Bracers of Renewed Life (Leatherworking), Haste option, slightly behind Tailoring
Hands: Botanist's Gloves of Growth (Teron Gorefiend, Black Temple)
- Uncontested BiS with highest Healing Power AND Haste
- Major upgrade over Mitts of the Treemender
Waist: Multiple competitive options:
- Angelista's Sash (Kaz'rogal, Hyjal Summit), Haste option
- Belt of Primal Majesty (Gurtogg Bloodboil, Black Temple), Haste option, 1 less Intellect than Angelista's
- Primal Mooncloth Belt, still highest raw Healing Power if you don't need Haste
Legs: Leggings of Eternity (Archimonde, Hyjal Summit)
- Clear BiS
- Kilt of Immortal Nature (Shade of Akama, Black Temple) is close second
Feet: Boots of the Divine Light (Trash waves, Hyjal Summit)
- New BiS, drops from trash
- Gold-Leaf Wildboots still competitive but rare
Rings:
- Blessed Band of Karabor (Trash, Black Temple), has Haste, NOT unique (you can wear two)
- Band of the Eternal Restorer (Scale of the Sands Exalted), Healing Power proc
- Coral Band of the Revived (Phase 2), still excellent
Trinkets:
- Essence of the Martyr (Badges), still BiS
- Direbrew Hops (Brewfest), still BiS
- Memento of Tyrande (Illidan Stormrage), highest static Healing Power but lower total than on-use trinkets
Weapon: Crystal Spire of Karabor (Illidan Stormrage, Black Temple)
- Best one-handed weapon
- Note: Equip bonus doesn't work with HoTs, so Resto Druids may be lower priority
Off-Hand: Scepter of Purification (Archimonde, Hyjal Summit)
- Best raw Healing Power with good overall stats
- Definite upgrade over Tears of Heaven
Two-Handed (Innervate Set): Ethereum Life-Staff (High Astromancer Solarian, Tempest Keep)
- Highest Spirit for maximizing Innervate mana return
- Swap to this during Innervate, then swap back to your main weapon
Idol: Idol of the Emerald Queen
- Still BiS
- Idol of the Raven Goddess (Epic Flying Form questline) useful if you're in the same group as the main tank
- Kill Teron Gorefiend for Botanist's Gloves of Growth and Cowl of Benevolence
- Clear Hyjal Summit for Thunderheart Helmet, Leggings of Eternity, Boots of the Divine Light, and Scepter of Purification
- Farm Black Temple trash for Blessed Band of Karabor (you can wear two!)
- Progress to Illidan for Crystal Spire of Karabor, Thunderheart Tunic, and Memento of Tyrande
- Craft or buy Haste bracers to reach the 125 Haste target
Phase 4 Best in Slot
Phase 4 adds a new 10-man raid (Zul'Aman) and expanded Badge of Justice options. While the core BiS setup barely changes, significant catch-up gear becomes available.
Key Phase 4 Additions
Brooch of Nature's Mercy (Akil'zon, Zul'Aman)
- New BiS neck slot
- High Healing Power with substantial Haste
- Major upgrade over Lord Sanguinar's Claim
Signet of the Quiet Forest (Third timed chest, Zul'Aman)
- Haste ring option
- Alternative to Blessed Band of Karabor if you can't get trash drops
Life-step Belt (First timed chest, Zul'Aman)
- High Healing Power option
- Competes with Angelista's Sash and Belt of Primal Majesty
Dark Blessing (Zul'jin, Zul'Aman)
- One-handed weapon with Haste
- Worth considering if Crystal Spire of Karabor keeps eluding you
Staff of Dark Mending (Second timed chest, Zul'Aman)
- Best two-handed staff for actual healing
- Still worse than one-hand plus off-hand combos
Two-toed Sandals (Zul'jin, Zul'Aman)
- Alternative boots
- Slightly behind Boots of the Divine Light
Robes of Heavenly Purpose (Nalorakk, Zul'Aman)
- Catch-up chest option
- Solid stats but behind Thunderheart Tunic
Cloak of Ancient Rituals (Hex Lord Malacrass, Zul'Aman)
- Back slot option
- Alternative if Black Temple cloaks aren't available
Phase 4 Badge of Justice Additions
New badge gear gives you excellent catch-up options:
| Item | Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Light-Blessed Bonds (Gloves) | 60 badges | Good option until Botanist's Gloves drop |
| Gnarled Ironwood Pauldrons (Shoulders) | 60 badges | Haste shoulders without profession requirement |
| Achromic Trousers of the Naaru (Legs) | 75 badges | Massive Haste but low Healing Power |
| Pants of Splendid Recovery (Legs) | 75 badges | Balanced alternative |
| Wristguards of Tranquil Thought (Wrists) | 35 badges | Catch-up bracers |
| Gargon's Bracers of Peaceful Slumber (Wrists) | 35 badges | Alternative catch-up bracers |
Phase 4 BiS Summary
The core BiS setup from Phase 3 stays largely the same with one major update:
- Neck: Brooch of Nature's Mercy (Zul'Aman) replaces Lord Sanguinar's Claim
- Everything else: Phase 3 BiS items stay best
Phase 4 is mostly a catch-up phase. If you're missing Phase 3 items, Zul'Aman and the badge vendor give you alternative paths to gearing.
Phase 5 Best in Slot
The final phase introduces Sunwell Plateau, new badge gear, Season 4 PvP equipment, new profession recipes, and a transmute vendor (Yrma) who can convert certain raid items.
Phase 5 Haste Considerations
With Haste options everywhere in Phase 5, you need to manage your total carefully:
- Target: ~118-125 Haste for 5 GCD rotation
- Ceiling: ~247 Haste
- Avoid: Going much over 247 Haste
You might need to swap Haste pieces for pure Healing Power pieces depending on your total.
Phase 5 BiS Overview
Head:
- Cowl of Light's Purity (Kil'jaeden, Sunwell Plateau), best Haste option (cloth)
- Cover of Ursol the Wise (Kil'jaeden, Sunwell Plateau), best leather option, more Spirit
- Wonderheel XT68 Shades (Engineering), Phase 5 engineering upgrade

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I use a two-handed weapon or one-hand plus off-hand?
One-handed weapon plus off-hand almost always gives better combined stats than two-handed alternatives. The exception is if a two-handed weapon has dramatically better stats (rare) or for Innervate swapping where you want maximum Spirit.
How important is reaching exactly 125 Haste?
The 5 GCD rotation gives you a significant healing boost, making ~125 Haste very valuable in Phase 3 and beyond. You shouldn't sacrifice huge amounts of Healing Power just to hit exact numbers though. Aim for the 118-130 Haste range to ensure reliable 5 GCD rotations with latency variance.
Should I chase Tier 6 set bonuses?
No. The Thunderheart set bonuses are weak for Resto Druid gameplay. Wear tier pieces for their excellent raw stats, not the bonuses. Feel free to break set for superior off-pieces.
What professions should I have in Phase 5?
Good combinations include Enchanting (ring enchants) paired with Jewelcrafting (Amulet of Flowing Life), Alchemy (Redeemer's Alchemist Stone), or Engineering (Wonderheel XT68 Shades). Your choice depends on whether you value a BiS trinket, BiS neck, or BiS helm alternative.
Is the Brewfest trinket (Direbrew Hops) really BiS?
Yes. Direbrew Hops matches Essence of the Martyr's power level with an equivalent on-use effect. If you missed Brewfest, Memento of Tyrande or other alternatives work fine, but Direbrew Hops stays exceptional if you have it.
How do I build an Innervate set?
Collect high-Spirit gear to swap during Innervate for maximum mana return. Key pieces include:
- Ethereum Life-Staff (Phase 2-4) or Golden Staff of the Sin'dorei (Phase 5)
- Any high-Spirit rings, trinkets, or armor pieces you're not using for healing
Swap to this set, cast Innervate, then swap back to your healing gear.
What's the minimum gear needed to start raiding Karazhan?
Karazhan is accessible in dungeon blues and quest greens. Focus on having Idol of the Emerald Queen, reasonable Healing Power (800-1000+), and an adequate mana pool. Don't delay raiding to perfect your pre-raid BiS since many items from the list above actually drop from Karazhan itself.
Summary
Gearing a Resto Druid in TBC Classic means balancing Healing Power, mana regeneration stats, and (from Phase 3 onward) Spell Haste. Your profession choices have a big impact on early gearing options, with Tailoring providing dominant Phase 1 gear and various professions offering competitive endgame alternatives.
- Healing Power is king - prioritize items with high +Healing
- Hit Haste breakpoints - aim for ~125 Haste in Phase 3+ for the 5 GCD rotation
- Don't overcap Haste - diminishing returns kick in hard above ~247 Haste
- Tier bonuses are weak - wear tier pieces for stats, not set bonuses
- Badge of Justice priorities - Essence of the Martyr first, then Tears of Heaven
- Choose Aldor - Greater Inscription of Faith beats the Scryer alternative
With this guide, you're ready to make informed gearing decisions throughout your TBC Classic journey. Good luck in your raids, and may your Lifebloom stacks never fall off!
