Marvel Rivals players can now challenge each other to 1v1 duels. The Clobberin' Club, a new underground arena on the Times Square map, launched January 29 as part of Season 6's second content drop.
NetEase released the update at 9 AM UTC alongside new skins and bug fixes. The addition continues a pattern of expansions to the Times Square social hub, which has previously hosted New Year's Ball Drops, an Ant-Man sandwich shop, and the underground Disco Club.
The Clobberin' Club Explained
Named after The Thing's famous catchphrase, the Clobberin' Club is an underground arena built for 1v1 combat. It exists separately from standard 6v6 matches, giving players somewhere to test their skills in direct fights.
The arena holds both active combatants and spectators. Visitors will find crowds watching as two players battle it out in the center.
Class restrictions don't exist here. A Strategist can challenge a Vanguard, or any other matchup that wouldn't happen in team play. Every character is fair game.
Finding the Arena
The Clobberin' Club sits in the same underground section as the Disco Ballroom on Times Square. Players should head toward the Disco entrance and take the stairs down on either side.
Once underground, a door on the left has the Clobberin' Club poster above it. The poster makes the entrance easy to spot.
Starting a Duel
Challenging another player takes a few steps. Walk up to anyone in the Clobberin' Club and hit the Interact button. A 'Duel' option appears at the bottom of the menu.
From there, pick between a Private or Public Duel and select 'Initiate' to send the challenge. If the other player accepts, the match starts within seconds.
Hero selection happens at the start of every duel and between rounds. Current character choice doesn't matter when sending or accepting a challenge.
Customizing Match Rules
After a challenge is accepted, both players land on a preparation platform with a console in the center. This console controls the duel settings.
Players can adjust points needed to win and add a ban phase to block certain heroes. Three duel types are available. Classic runs as a standard format. Random switches heroes automatically after each round. Unique limits both players to a smaller hero pool chosen before the match.
Hit 'Save Duel' after adjusting settings to lock everything in and start the match.
Broadcasting on the Big Screen
Public Duels get displayed on the largest screen in Times Square. This option costs 100 Units, but it puts the match in front of everyone on the map.
Skilled players can show off their wins, or friends can make grudge matches more public.
Competitive Implications
Marvel Rivals is built around 6v6 team fights, but the Clobberin' Club removes that structure entirely. Individual skill takes priority over team composition or coordinated abilities.
Open class matchups also let players explore specific hero fights without outside interference. Matchups that would normally depend on team support can play out purely between two players.
The Clobberin' Club joins a growing list of activities on Times Square as NetEase continues adding reasons to explore the social hub beyond standard matchmaking.
