NetEase Games has revealed a detailed content plan for Destiny: Rising covering November 2025 through April 2026. The roadmap includes three new seasons, a tower defense mode, a new explorable destination called the Red Sea Rift, and major system changes designed to address player feedback.
Player Numbers Down 80% Since Launch
The announcement comes at a rough time for the mobile spinoff. Destiny: Rising launched on August 28, 2025 to around 100,000 players across iPhone and Android. As of November 2025, that number has dropped to roughly 20,000.
The free-to-play gacha game is also available through NetEase's MuMuPlayer emulator on Windows and macOS. It operates in an alternate timeline separate from Destiny 2, with 13 playable Lightbearers available (some free, some paid).
Gameplay follows the familiar Destiny loop: complete missions, grab loot, upgrade weapons and gear. Side activities include Sparrow racing and Shadowshaper Duels, a card-collecting mini-game.

Season 4, Act 1 (March 2026)
The biggest drop on the roadmap. Season 4 includes:

- Major system update
- New Light experience rework for better onboarding
- Seasonal campaign
- New Gauntlet: Blitz content
- New Strikes
- Endgame updates
- In-game events
Season 4 will continue past April 2026, so NetEase clearly has long-term plans beyond what's currently outlined.
Pinnacle Energy System Getting Reworked
The roadmap dropped alongside a dev update tackling one of the community's biggest complaints: Pinnacle Energy. NetEase designed the system to balance rewards between casual and hardcore players, but many found it too restrictive.
A revised version is in development for early 2026. NetEase plans to share details and collect feedback before pushing the changes live.
Bungie Still Hasn't Dropped Its Own Roadmap
The timing here is interesting. While Destiny: Rising has concrete plans through early 2026, Destiny 2 players are still waiting on Bungie's long-promised roadmap for the main game. Bungie recently apologized for the delay.
What This Means Going Forward
NetEase is betting that consistent content updates and system fixes will turn things around. Monthly content calendars should keep current players informed about what's coming and when.
For lapsed players or newcomers, Season 4's New Light rework in March 2026 might offer a better entry point. The player population has taken a hit since launch, but NetEase isn't backing off. The studio has laid out clear plans and committed development resources to Destiny: Rising's future.
