What is Resource Rumble Mode?
Resource Rumble is Marvel Rivals' newest game mode, bringing a completely different approach to control point gameplay. Instead of the familiar Domination format, you're dealing with a three-phase system where teams fight over finite resources before potentially entering a final phase where you can steal points directly from opponents.
The mode runs exclusively on the Klyntar: Throne of Knull map and centers around collecting finite resources from control points before potentially entering a final "hijack" phase where teams steal points from each other.
- Enemies stop your resource gain the instant they step on your point
- Each objective only has 210 resources total (no infinite point accumulation)
- The final phase lets teams steal resources from opponents
- Random objective order keeps matches fresh
When and Where You Can Play
Resource Rumble launched on August 21st, 2025 as part of Season 3.5.

The Map: Klyntar Throne of Knull
This map is massive compared to standard Marvel Rivals arenas because it needs to fit three active objectives. The layout follows a three-lane structure built around these control points:
Sits in front of a giant Knull statue. Cool detail here: Knull actually watches the fights and will even talk to you if you get close enough.
Dead center of the map, making it the natural middle lane.
Opposite end from the Throne of Knull, completing the triangle.
- Your spawn connects directly to enemy spawn for each lane
- Blue force fields give speed boosts for cross-map movement
- Lots of high ground spots for tactical advantages
- Health packs scattered throughout (learn these locations early)
Core Mechanics You Need to Know
How Resources Work
Every match starts with a random unlock order for the three objectives. You'll see this during hero selection and can check it anytime via the UI.
Resource Rule | Description |
---|---|
Total Resources | Each objective holds exactly 210 resources |
Resource Gain | Only gain resources while controlling the point uncontested |
Contesting | One enemy on your point = zero resource gain |
Tick Rate | Resources tick at about 1 per second when you're in control |
Cap Time | Capping any objective takes exactly 4 seconds |
The "Ready to Rumble" System
This is the mechanic that determines if matches go to phase 3. Teams become "Ready to Rumble" at 61 points, shown by a diamond turning your team's color.
- Total resources from first two objectives: 420 (210 × 2)
- If you have 61+ points, enemies can't win with remaining resources
- Math: 420 - 61 = 359 (they can't reach 360 to win)
- Both teams hitting 61+ triggers the third phase automatically
Contesting Rules
This is where Resource Rumble gets weird compared to other modes. The contesting system is extremely strict:
- Single enemy = complete resource shutdown
- Having multiple teammates on point doesn't help
- Must clear all enemies to resume resource collection
- Enemy presence stops resource theft
- Same one-player stopping power
- Works both ways for gaining and losing points
Breaking Down Each Phase
Phases 1 and 2: Collect or Die
Your goal is simple: grab 210 resources from each of the first two objectives.
- Hit 360 total resources and you win instantly
- You can win by taking both objectives (210 + 150 = 360)
- Overtime kicks in automatically at 359 points
- Galactus announces the next objective when 60 resources remain
- Blue speed barriers activate for faster movement
- Start moving your team with about 30 resources left
- No waiting period between objectives
Phase 3: The Hijack Round
Getting here:
- Both teams need 61+ points
- Everyone loses 60 points when this phase starts
- Total points between teams becomes 300

Best Characters for Resource Rumble
Top Tier: Control Kings

Shield positioning makes him nearly impossible to dislodge from points. His ultimate gives your team serious breathing room, and he's tough enough to contest points solo for extended periods.

Unmatched rotation speed lets him be everywhere at once. Perfect for solo contesting while your team sets up elsewhere. Web-swinging gives him endless escape options.

Massive health pool means he can tank damage on points forever. His ultimate clears areas fast. Just remember: you can't contest while transforming from Banner.
Strong Picks: Solid Support
Reliable Choices
Jeff the Shark: Can't contest while in shark form (same payload rules apply).
Banner form (Hulk): Transformation leaves points uncontested and creates vulnerability windows.
Advanced Tactics and Strategy
Early Game Setup
Pick the fastest route to your first objective using the direct spawn lanes. Coordinate team arrival to avoid getting picked off one by one. Secure high ground before going for eliminations.
Rotation Timing
Start moving when 30 resources remain at your current objective. This gives you the best shot at beating enemies to the next point.
For split strategies, leave your most mobile player to contest while the main team rotates. They rejoin once they've forced the enemy team to respond.
Optimal Rotation Flow
Perfect timing ensures you arrive first and gain the early advantage on each objective.
Hijack Phase Tactics
Extended control periods dramatically increase point theft, so decisive action beats careful play. Remember that overtime triggers automatically at 359 points, and enemy presence stops the countdown.
Focus on objective control over getting kills. Points lost can be regained quickly with control, but losing the objective means watching your score drain fast.
Mistakes to Avoid
Common Errors
Bad Timing
Contesting Confusion
Phase 3 Errors
Map Knowledge That Matters
Health Pack Locations
Learning where health packs spawn is crucial for characters like Hulk, Captain America, Spider-Man, Psylocke, Star-Lord, and Black Panther. These characters need health pack rotations to sustain their aggressive plays.
Using High Ground
Multiple elevation levels give you:
- Better sight lines for ranged characters
- Escape routes for mobile heroes
- Area denial for tanks
- Flanking opportunities around objectives
Speed Boost Mastery
Blue force fields do more than just move you faster. Combine them with character mobility for bunny hopping, use them for team rotations, create escape routes during failed contests, and respond quickly to enemy movements.

Team Composition Ideas
Recommended Team Compositions
Composition Type | Core Heroes | Strengths | Best For |
---|---|---|---|
Balanced Setup | Cap/Hulk + Spider-Man + Support + 3 Flex | Versatile, reliable | Most situations |
Rotation Heavy | Spider-Man + Psylocke + Tank + Support + 2 DPS | Superior mobility | Quick rotations |
Turtle Strategy | 2 Tanks + Penny Parker + Support + Focus Defense | Sustained presence | Defensive play |
Tips for Success
Communication Priorities
- Call out rotation timing at 30 resources
- Track enemy movements
- Coordinate who contests what
- Share health pack locations
Individual Skills
- Master mobility combinations with speed boosts
- Learn good positioning for your character
- Know when contesting beats fighting
- Develop map awareness for timing
Team Coordination
- Rotate together to avoid staggered deaths
- Assign contesting duties during rotations
- Prioritize high ground in team fights
- Manage resources for sustained presence
Final Thoughts
Resource Rumble rewards smart positioning and team coordination over pure mechanical skill. The contesting mechanics, rotation timings, and hijack phase acceleration create tactical depth that keeps matches engaging from start to finish.
Teams that nail the transition timings, understand character positioning, and adapt to the acceleration mechanics will dominate this mode. The random objective order means adaptability and quick thinking matter as much as raw skill and teamwork.
