WARDOGS is a large-scale tactical FPS from BULKHEAD, published by Team17. It is a premium buy-to-play title on PC, sold once with no free entry point, and everything after the purchase is earned in matches.

What do you actually start with?

Every account opens with 10,000 in-game cash. That buys a starter kit and little else. Cash carries over between matches, so a good session compounds and a bad one sets you back.

WARDOGS is built around a single mode. Control Zone is a king of the hill derivative run at a scale most shooters never attempt.

How big is the ground you are fighting over?

The playable area covers 256 square kilometres. The contested zone inside it measures two kilometres by two. Everything that decides the match happens in that square, and the rest of the map decides how you reach it.

How does scoring work?

1. The faction with the most players inside the zone takes the point
2. Points stack up as the match runs
3. First faction to 100 points wins

Why do kills matter so little?

Scoring ignores your kill count. Someone camping a ridge two kilometres out contributes nothing, however many tags they collect. Bodies inside the boundary beat highlight reels.

What is the Hot Zone?

A smaller marked circle inside the Control Zone. Standing in it pays continuously, and it counts your body twice when the score is checked, which concentrates the fighting.

The economy is the reason a WARDOGS boost exists at all. You buy your loadout every life, and the money has to come from somewhere.

What are the two gates?

1. Role levels, earned by doing that role's work, decide what the vendor will offer you
2. In-game cash, earned in matches, decides whether you can afford it

How does a match pay?

• Spotting: marking enemies for the team, and assist cash when they drop
• Building: every swing of the hammer pays, and a finished structure pays better than a kill
• Reviving: picking teammates up, faster once the better tools are open to you
• Driving: taking the team's mobile spawn forward and earning on every use of it
• Flying: ferrying squads to the zone, plus whatever they tip you
• Holding the Hot Zone: steady income for occupying the right ground

Can any of it be bought with real money?

No. Cash and gold bars are earned through play, and BULKHEAD has committed that camos will never be sold at all. There is no battle pass and no microtransaction store.

There are no locked classes in WARDOGS. You are never shut out of sniping because someone picked it first, and never stuck as the medic nobody else wanted to be.

So how do roles work?

You build one by buying the tools. Binoculars make you a spotter, a hammer makes you a builder, a resuscitator makes you a medic, a helicopter makes you transport. Change your mind next life and buy something else.

Then what do levels do?

Each role levels as you do its work, and better equipment opens up along the way. That is the first gate: the vendor will not sell you a tool your level has not reached.

What is a FOB?

A Forward Operating Base. Drop the module and the area becomes buildable for your squad: walls, gates, emplacements, and a rally point for people arriving from spawn. It is the piece that separates this game from the ones it gets compared to.

Why does that matter if you are buying?

Because levels do not tick over on their own. They move only while someone plays that role, which is exactly what an order delivers.
