Buried in the mountains of Kun-Lai Summit, Mogu'shan Vaults is the first Tier 14 raid and a crucial step in Pandaria Classic gearing. Six bosses stand between you and some of the strongest early drops in the expansion, from 489 ilvl pieces on Normal to 502 ilvl on Heroic. Pugging it means gambling on random groups that fall apart at Elegon or Will of the Emperor, two fights notorious for punishing coordination gaps. Six encounters span three floors of the vault, each demanding different skills from your raid group. The Stone Guard is a council-style opener where four quilen statues share energy when grouped too closely, forcing tanks to manage proximity while the raid handles rotating petrification casts. Feng the Accursed cycles through weapon phases with unique abilities per stage, and tanks use two special crystals (a barrier and a spell-reflect shroud) to counter his deadliest casts.

Gara'jal the Spiritbinder splits your group between physical and spirit realms through destructible totems, creating a tight DPS check where staying in the shadow zone too long means death. The Spirit Kings pit you against four ancient Mogu rulers in sequence on Normal (overlapping on Heroic), each with distinct mechanics like Meng's insanity bar and Subetai's ranged volleys.

Elegon is the hardest fight in the instance, built around a platform split into inner and outer rings with stacking damage buffs, add waves racing toward energy pillars, and a floor-collapse phase. Will of the Emperor closes the raid with twin bosses Jan-xi and Qin-xi alongside constant terracotta add waves, where tanks dodge Devastating Combo sequences and Titan Gas phases act as a soft enrage.

Bosses in Mogu'shan Vaults drop 489 ilvl gear on Normal and 502 ilvl on Heroic, covering weapons, armor, trinkets, and accessories for every class and spec. Tier 14 set tokens drop from multiple encounters, making full clears valuable for both mains and alts. The raid uses group loot rather than personal loot, so items are rolled on or distributed through guild systems.

Elegon has a roughly 1% chance to drop the Reins of the Astral Cloud Serpent, one of the most coveted mounts in the game. Clearing all six bosses on Heroic awards the Delver of the Vaults title, and achievements earned here count toward the Glory of the Pandaria Raider meta-achievement (which rewards the Heavenly Crimson Cloud Serpent mount across all three Tier 14 raids). Every boss can also drop Sigil of Power and Sigil of Wisdom, quest items for the legendary Wrathion questline.
