WoW Mists of Pandaria Classic Boost

The Anglers are World of Warcraft's most unique faction, built entirely around fishing in Pandaria's beautiful waters. While they won't boost your combat stats, The Anglers offer some of the game's best rewards. The standout prize is the Reins of the Azure Water Strider, which many consider the most powerful ground mount ever created before water walking became standard on all mounts.

This guide covers everything from your first fishing attempts to unlocking every reward The Anglers offer.

Before You Start

Level Requirements
You need level 89 to access the Soggy's Gamble questline in Dread Wastes, and level 90 for daily quests at Angler's Wharf. Any fishing skill works, even level 1.

Where to Find The Anglers

Head to Angler's Wharf in southeastern Krasarang Wilds. This coastal settlement serves as your base for all Anglers activities. You'll find Nat Pagle here, the legendary fisherman who works as both quartermaster and your gateway to a special friendship system.

How The Reputation System Works

The Anglers use two separate progression tracks that make them different from other factions.

Main Faction Reputation

Standard progression from Neutral to Exalted: 3,000 points to Friendly, then 6,000 more to Honored, 12,000 more to Revered, and 21,000 more to Exalted.

Nat Pagle Friendship

A personal relationship with Nat Pagle that progresses independently from faction reputation:

Nat Pagle Friendship Levels
Stranger
0 to 8,400 points
Acquaintance
8,400 to 16,800 points
Buddy
16,800 to 25,200 points
Friend
25,200 to 33,600 points
Good Friend
33,600 to 42,000 points
Best Friend
42,000 to 42,999 points

You'll build these two reputations through completely different activities.

Building Your Reputation

Getting Started at Soggy's Gamble (Level 89+)

Your first stop is Soggy's Gamble in southern Dread Wastes. This questline becomes available after completing "A Cry From Darkness" and gives you 2,520 reputation points before any bonuses.

Each quest rewards different amounts:

Quest Name Reputation Reward
Mazu's Breath 10 reputation
Fresh Pots 250 reputation
You Otter Know 250 reputation
Meet the Cap'n 10 reputation
Walking Dog 250 reputation
Old Age and Treachery 250 reputation
On the Crab 250 reputation
Shark Week 250 reputation
Dog Food 250 reputation
Reeltime Strategy 250 reputation
The Mariner's Revenge 500 reputation
Pro Tip
Consider waiting until you reach Revered status before doing this questline. You can use the Grand Commendation item to double all these reputation gains.

Daily Quest Grind (Level 90+)

Daily quests form the backbone of your reputation building. Each day, you'll get three random quests from a pool of fourteen options, ensuring variety while maintaining steady progress.

Your Daily Quest Options

Seven NPCs each offer two rotating quests:

Viseclaw Soup (500 reputation) and Piranha! Piranha! (500 reputation)

Jagged Abalone (500 reputation) and Shocking! Shocking! (500 reputation)

Huff & Puff (500 reputation) and Armored Carp (500 reputation)

Each completed daily quest also gives you one fishing skill point, making this an efficient way to level your fishing profession alongside reputation.

Daily Reputation
Completing all three daily quests gives you 1,500 reputation per day.

Rare Fish Collection

Three special fish provide an alternative reputation stream. When you catch these rare fish, they each start a quest you can turn in to Nat Pagle once daily.

Mimic Octopus

350 Anglers reputation + 500 Nat Pagle friendship

Catching all three rare fish daily gives you 1,050 Anglers reputation and 1,500 Nat Pagle friendship. This is also the only way to advance your friendship with Nat Pagle.

Speeding Up Your Progress

Grand Commendation of the Anglers

Once you hit Revered, you can buy the Grand Commendation of the Anglers for 50 gold. This Bind on Account item doubles all reputation gains with the faction, cutting your remaining grind time in half.

Use it immediately when you reach Revered to get maximum benefit. You can also send it to alt characters to speed up their Anglers reputation.

Hozen Peace Pipe

This rare drop from Scritch in Kun-Lai Summit gives 1,000 reputation to eight different factions, including The Anglers. The item has a 7 day cooldown, gets destroyed when used, and affects The Anglers, The August Celestials, Golden Lotus, The Klaxxi, The Lorewalkers, Order of the Cloud Serpent, Shado-Pan, and The Tillers all at once.

Fish of the Day Events

Talk to Ben of the Booming Voice near Halfhill each day to get directed to special fishing locations. These spots feature rapidly respawning fishing pools and unique encounters.

Each location has special named pools that respawn quickly and let you catch specific Pandaren fish easily. Some locations have atmospheric touches like sprite darters casting spells at the Jade Lungfish site or baby octopuses jumping around the Reef Octopus site.

Krakkanon Boss Fight

Each Fish of the Day location has one large pool that summons Krakkanon, a massive boss similar to The Lurker Below. This encounter has nearly 20 million hit points and uses abilities called Gurrggggle and Shpshhh. Defeating it gives you 20 location-specific fish plus a chance at Nat's Fishing Journal and rare fish for Nat Pagle turn ins.

Common Challenges and Solutions

Tips for Success
  • Your fishing skill level doesn't matter for most quests
  • Plan your rare fish route efficiently
  • Learn all quest types for faster completion
  • Use the Grand Commendation as soon as you hit Revered
Common Obstacles
  • Travel time between fishing locations
  • Random daily quest selection
  • RNG for rare fish catches
  • Long reputation grind without bonuses

Travel Efficiency

Collecting rare fish requires visiting multiple zones. Plan your route to minimize travel time:

  1. Start at Angler's Wharf for Mimic Octopus (coastal waters right there)
  2. Head north to Krasarang Wilds inland waters for Flying Tiger Gourami
  3. Finish in southeastern Kun-Lai Summit for Spinefish Alpha in Sha corrupted waters
  4. Return to Angler's Wharf for all turn-ins and daily quest pickup

Conclusion

The Anglers faction offers multiple ways to engage, from casual daily fishing to dedicated reputation grinding, while providing some of World of Warcraft's most unique and valuable rewards. The water walking mount alone makes the entire journey worthwhile, and the relaxing nature of fishing provides a nice break from combat-focused content.

Whether you're a completionist seeking every achievement or a practical player wanting the best travel mount in the game, The Anglers provide a rewarding and enjoyable path to both goals. With proper planning and consistency, you'll be walking on water and sporting Nat's legendary fishing hat in just about a month of dedicated effort.
