The bars themselves, along with anything already unlocked with them, stay on your account. That splits the economy in two. Cash is short-term fuel for the current cycle, and bars are the half that survives into the next one. Letting the reset do the converting is not a plan, because you take whatever rate it hands you instead of one you chose.
