Every rating milestone in Battleground Blitz unlocks a PvP rank and title. The ladder starts at 1100 with Private and climbs through Corporal (1200), Sergeant (1300), Master Sergeant (1400), Sergeant Major (1500), and Knight (1600). Knight-Lieutenant sits at 1700, Knight-Captain at 1800, and Knight-Champion at 1900. From 2000 upward: Lieutenant Commander, Lieutenant General (2100), Marshal (2200), Field Marshal (2300), and Grand Marshal (2400). Alliance and Horde players earn faction-specific versions of each title at the same thresholds. Beyond titles, hitting Combatant rank and above starts progress toward the seasonal Vicious mount, which accumulates across all rated PvP modes. The Elite PvP transmog set unlocks progressively from 1600 rating upward, with each threshold adding another cosmetic piece. Reaching Elite rank opens the Strategist title and pennant, earned through 25 BGB wins at Elite during the active season. Honor and Conquest points flow in throughout the climb, funding the PvP gear you need to stay competitive in higher brackets.

Battleground Blitz is an 8v8 solo queue PvP mode where players compete on standard battleground maps with modified objectives and faster pacing than traditional Rated Battlegrounds. You queue solo or as a duo with a healer, and the matchmaker builds balanced teams with equal healers and tanks on each side. A typical team runs two healers, five to six DPS, and sometimes one tank. The map pool includes Warsong Gulch, Twin Peaks, Arathi Basin, Eye of the Storm, Silvershard Mines, Battle for Gilneas, Temple of Kotmogu, and Deepwind Gorge. Several maps have Blitz-specific changes: capture times are shorter, and the Swift Pursuit buff grants 150% increased mount speed to all players. Power-up runes on certain maps offer temporary shields, stealth, cooldown acceleration, and stealth detection. Most matches wrap up around the 10-minute mark, with flag maps finishing fastest and base control maps running longer. Leaving early triggers a deserter penalty. Because you can't premade a full group, team composition changes every match, and that unpredictability is why consistent rating gains are harder than they look without skilled players in the mix.
