Horde and Alliance are counted on separate ladders, so the two cutoffs rarely match and the gap between them shifts by region. Two conditions have to be true at season end: your character sits inside the top 0.5% of your faction's Rated Battleground ladder, and you have at least 50 rated wins from that season. Reaching the rating early locks in nothing. Holding it when the ladder closes is what earns the title.

Why the WoW Hero of the Alliance Boost Runs Through Rated Battlegrounds

Rated PvP splits across several brackets and only one of them pays out these titles. Rated Battlegrounds are the organised 10v10 format where a premade queues together and plays around map objectives.
