Dreamrift pits your raid against a single boss in Harandar's Rift of Aln, but Chimaerus, the Undreamt God punishes sloppy coordination harder than most multi-boss instances. Chimaerus operates on a two-phase loop built around realm control. During the ground phase, the boss casts Rift Emergence to summon Manifestations protected by Alnshroud shields inside the Rift. Players knocked into the Rift by Alndust Upheaval gain Alnsight for 40 seconds, letting them break those shields and force Manifestations into Reality where the full raid can finish them off. The catch is that any Manifestation reaching the boss triggers Cannibalized Essence, healing Chimaerus and permanently increasing its damage output.

Colossal Horrors act as priority targets since their Discordant Roar hits the entire raid, and Rift Sickness from active Manifestations causes players to absorb healing instead of receiving it. At 100 energy, Chimaerus takes flight with Corrupted Devastation, stunning and damaging the raid while spawning another wave of adds. The phase ends with Ravenous Dive, which consumes every Manifestation still standing. Groups that fall behind on add control during the ground phase face a boss with stacking damage buffs that quickly become mathematically impossible to survive.

Normal Dreamrift awards 250-253 ilvl Champion-track gear and Champion Dawncrests from a single kill. The most important drop is the Chest tier token, one of five Tier 35 slots spread across the Midnight Season 1 raids. Voidspire covers Head, Shoulders, Hands, and Legs tokens from its six bosses, while March on Quel'Danas offers the Chiming Void Curio omni-token from its final encounter. Dreamrift's Chest slot fills a gap that no other raid covers, making it a mandatory weekly clear for anyone chasing the 2-piece or 4-piece set bonus.

Beyond gear, Chimaerus drops housing decorations including the Eerie Iridescent Riftshroom and the Dreamrift Vanquisher's Argent Trophy, both tied to the new player housing system. The single-boss format keeps clears fast, typically under 30 minutes for organized groups, so running Dreamrift weekly across multiple characters is one of the most time-efficient ways to build raid progression and Great Vault options during Season 1.
