Overwatch 2 Map Changes

Overwatch 2 Map Changes

The new, free-to-play Overwatch 2 is going to be released soon, and we are getting even more excited about it. We know that the game will be a huge mix of new content and improvements to the old one, which makes it even more interesting to both loyal, and new players.

Blizzard shared some details about the Overwatch 2 – we expect new heroes, new modes, a lot of developments, and of course – new maps. But not only new maps will be added, but also the old ones will go through some great changes, which will make them more exclusive than ever! So, today we will share more information about the map changes in Overwatch.

Changes in Overwatch 1 Maps Compared to Overwatch 2

Let's start with the old, but great maps which we enjoyed in the previous Overwatch. Overall, all of the maps were given time shifts, which will definitely make them feel new and better than before. Each of them went through some cosmetic changes, became smoother than before, and of course – received some great graphic improvements. But let's get into detail.

Dorado

The city of Dorado went through some good cosmetic changes, and now it has festival lights almost everywhere, together with a sun backdrop, which made it one happy place. And let's not forget the confetti that falls from the sky to give an even happier mood.

Eichenwalde

Eichenwalde became a twilight city, which gave it a new tone – now it feels like a harrowing place, that hides some great secrets. The orange light gives a warm feeling, but the twilight note does not give us the romance we expected.

Ilios

Ilios received some great cosmetic changes, and now it features a fully new sky. The golden sunsets cover the background, together with some calming clouds. The Greek-inspired city used to be a horror place with a scary center,  but now, if you fall into the Well center, well, you will have the chance to enjoy some great sunset, instead of a scary and dark background.

King's Row

King’s Row used to give those scary feelings because of its darkness and mystery. However, in Overwatch 2 the sky is lighter than before, and together with the clouds of smoke it gives a different feeling – more like rising tension, but it is a surely welcoming change.

Lijiang Tower

Lijiang Tower received similar changes to the ones made to King's Row. Instead of a mysterious and dark night-time, the map now has a full-on sun with a morning glow, which, honestly, is a huge change. Now you can see the players sneaking around, and you can also enjoy the beautiful architecture that Lijiang Tower has.

Oasis

Not every map received brightness, and Oasis is an example. Instead of a sun, you can now see night and a moon. Now you can use the surrounding of the city, together with the darkness to find some great hiding locations.

Route 66

Route 66 is another example of darkness added to the maps. Instead of the sun, you will have to rely on the brightness of the full moon. So, this map is another chance for you to find good hiding locations and sneak around.

Watchpoint: Gibraltar

We can’t forget to mention the changes in the Watchpoint: Gibraltar map. A new team came to the map and fixed the place, so you have the chance to explore it again and enjoy some great changes. Even though we do not have a time change like sunlight, we can now see the locations of different game maps in the level of the spawn, where the computers are usable and working.

Furthermore, if we go upstairs, we can take advantage of Winston's office which is functional now. And last, but not least – the Athena protocol was uploaded to the computers, which gives us a chance to check the new squad's coming adventures.

Overwatch 2 New Maps Added

Blizzard confirmed that several new maps will appear in Overwatch 2. Those maps will be available in Push, Escort, and Hybrid mode, with the Push mode being a new, interesting option for all the players. It will see a team battle located in a key place. A robot will play a role, and the winner will be the team that forced the robot into the enemy's territory. Of course, we will give you some detailed information about those, because as we expect – they will be amazing!

New York

New York is a map, that will be available in Hybrid mode. It will take us below Midtown Station and will allow us to visit the Grand Central Stations. On the streets, we will see a lot of police cars, together with some taxis, pizza restaurants, laundrette, mini markets, hotels, and many other details.

However, the main place on the New York map will be the fire station, where will be happening – your task will be escorting a fire truck through the whole of Midtown.

Rome

Blizzard gives us a chance to enjoy the beautiful Rome with a Colosseo map, which will be available in the Push mode. You will have the chance to fight around the Colosseum, and go around the cobbled streets of the capital of Italy.

Toronto

Toronto is another map available in the new Push mode, which will give us the opportunity to walk around the snowy streets, see the subway and explore Union Station. We will have to fight in a café, restaurant, or one of the trendy bars placed on the map.

However, as players, we will also have the chance to go to the railway line and went directly to the Museum of Technology and enjoy the curling center of Toronto.

Monte Carlo

While playing in Escort mode, we will have the chance to go to Monte Carlo. The map is called Circuit Royal and will give the players the chance to go to the Monte Carlo Casino with many poker tables, great hotels, and last, but not least – a F1 running on the map. If you and your teammates want to win, then you will have to successfully escort the race car through the roads of Monte Carlo.

Rio De Janeiro

Rio De Janeiro is a map available in Escort, and Story mode, which will give us the chance to see the beautiful Rio De Janeiro, and save it from the Null Sector attacks. Fights during sunset will be happening, and Lucio's club will be the location of other great fights.

Overwatch 2 Boosting

Overwatch 2 will be one great game, with a lot of tasks and difficulties, which will make it even greater. We expect new locations, new enemies, harder missions, and much more. Furthermore, we expect that some of the new players will see the game as a difficult one, but this should not be a reason to give up, because help is on the way – Overwatch 2 Boosting.
