Geiger Counters are one of the most valuable items you can loot in ARC Raiders. These epic Exodus materials pull triple duty: they're required for the Trophy Display project, they recycle into rare crafting materials, and they sell for solid cash. This guide breaks down exactly where to find them, which containers to search, and a safe strategy for farming them without losing your gear.
What Geiger Counters Are Used For
Geiger Counters fall into the Exodus item category alongside other rare drops like Magnetron and Spectrum Analyzer. As epic Exodus materials, they don't show up often, which is exactly why players hunt for them.
Three main reasons to farm Geiger Counters:
Trophy Display Project: The Headwinds update introduced a permanent project called Trophy Display. Its fifth and final stage, Imposing Behemoths, requires you to donate three Geiger Counters. Completing this stage earns you the Aphelion, a legendary rifle that normally drops from killing a Matriarch.
Recycling for Crafting Materials: You can break down Geiger Counters to get Exodus Modules and Batteries. Exodus Modules are notoriously difficult to find through regular looting, and you'll need them for late game crafting recipes. Recycling Geiger Counters gives you a reliable way to stock up.
Selling: Each Geiger Counter is worth $3,500. If you're low on funds, they're a quick way to build your bank.
Stella Montis Is Your Only Option
Let's get this out of the way first: Geiger Counters only spawn on Stella Montis. You won't find them on any other map, so don't waste time searching elsewhere.
Stella Montis has a reputation for heavy PvP activity, so expect to run into other players while you're farming. The map is also crawling with AI enemies (Pops, Fireballs, and Ticks), particularly around the Exodus areas where Geiger Counters actually spawn.
Day or night raids both work. The time cycle doesn't affect whether Geiger Counters appear.
Where to Look on Stella Montis
Loot in ARC Raiders is randomized, but certain POIs have better odds for specific item types. For Geiger Counters, you want Exodus POIs. Stella Montis has four of them:
Assembly (Your Best Bet)
Assembly sits in the northern part of the map and should be your first stop. The main production area and its connected Workshops have tons of searchable containers packed into a relatively small space. You'll find server cabinets lining the walkways, plus filing cabinets and tool stands scattered throughout the surrounding rooms.
Medical Research
Medical Research works well as a second location after Assembly. It's loaded with tool stands and filing cabinets, both of which are good container types for Geiger Counters.
Getting there from Assembly is straightforward. Head to the west end of the Assembly production line and take either of the two hallways leading south. They'll drop you right into Medical Research.
Business Center
Another Exodus POI worth checking if you have time during your raid. Work it into your route after covering Assembly and Medical Research.
Metaforge
The fourth Exodus location on Stella Montis. Like the others, it can spawn Geiger Counters.
Outside Exodus Areas
Geiger Counters can technically drop outside Exodus POIs, but the spawn rates are much lower. Stick to the four locations above for better results.
Which Containers to Search
Some containers have better odds than others. Focus on these types:
Yellow Tool Stands: Easy to spot and reliable for epic materials.
White Tool Stands: Similar to yellow ones, worth checking whenever you pass them.
Blue Cabinets: Small cabinets found throughout Exodus areas.
Filing Cabinets: Common in workshop and office spaces like Assembly and Medical Research.
Breachable Server Cabinets: These take an extra interaction to open, but they're worth it. They line the walkways in Assembly and fill the surrounding rooms.
Going in Naked (The Safe Method)
If you're nervous about losing gear on a PvP map, there's a trick that removes all risk from your farming runs.
Load into Stella Montis with absolutely nothing equipped. No shield, no augments, no weapons. When you enter a raid with an empty loadout, the game gives you a safe pocket - a protected inventory slot that keeps its contents even if you die or surrender.
The strategy is simple:
- Enter Stella Montis with nothing equipped
- Head to Exodus POIs and search containers
- When you find a Geiger Counter, put it in your safe pocket
- Surrender to exit with your loot
Running around Stella Montis with no way to defend yourself is rough, though. Pops, Fireballs, and Ticks are everywhere, and you'll have to dodge all of them. Expect to die a lot while learning which routes are safe. This method takes patience, but if gear fear is holding you back, it gets the job done.
Suggested Farming Route
For the smoothest runs, try this path:
- Start at Assembly in the north. It has the highest container density and is your best shot at finding Geiger Counters.
- Clear the Workshops attached to Assembly. Hit every server cabinet, filing cabinet, and tool stand you can find.
- Move south to Medical Research using either hallway from the west end of the Assembly line. The two areas connect directly.
- Search Medical Research for its tool stands and filing cabinets.
- Extend to Business Center and Metaforge if you still have time before extracting.
After You Finish Trophy Display
Once you've turned in three Geiger Counters and claimed your Aphelion, you might think you're done farming these. Not quite.
Exodus Modules show up in a lot of late game crafting recipes, and they're a pain to find through normal looting. Since Geiger Counters recycle into Exodus Modules, they stay valuable long after you've completed the Trophy Display. Keep grabbing them when you see them.
